I'd been on the road for almost 6 weeks straight at 3 different locales with only 1 day of a break in between 2 of the segments prior to arriving home 3 days ago. Thanks to the lack of gov budget and on-going CR, now through 18 Nov, my next trips were not scheduled for many weeks out. Break time! :2thumbsup Or so I thought : but damnit I am going to make the best out of it. :yellow-beer Got a call from Joint Special Ops folks in the PI for some assist down south in the Zambo area, so off I go. But I decided today to make it a business vacation and will take a few days and hang out in Manila, Makati actually and enjoy life a bit but not too much :nono :rofl

Well, I'm still here in the PI. Work is over and I'm back up from Zambo, where there was a huge blast in a public area that killed some local folks, you may have read about it. No, we were not in that area. We do not work in, visit or go anywhere near the city, only on the AFP (Armed Forces Philippines) base and 'our' compound. So everyone is safe, although security rose even higher than normal, which is already at a pretty high state down there. Anyway, work is done, I'm back in Manila (Makati) and enjoying some time off... yet here I am on the forum : go figured :banned Actually I've been back up here 2 days now and am really just taking a rest from taking a rest :rofl Have I ever mentioned I like McDonald's and also the BBC show Top Gear :2thumbsup

And did I mention that there is something to be said for both the 'short and tall' of things?

And did I mention that there is something to be said for both the 'short and tall' of things? I haven't been there since 1984...sigh... Do they still have Red Horse, San Miguel, and bar fines?!! How about those guards outside every bar and hotel with a sawed-off shotgun? (They had the shotgun guards in Ecuador too. Always smiling for some reason as their trigger finger was along the trigger guard.) Mark

Hard Rock Cafe, Makati, Manila... best Hard Rock I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. This is the all girl group MOCHA, who is the lead singer there in the middle. This is what all Hard Rock's should be like

And of course the HR has the absolute best Long Island Ice Tea's... yea that's why I like going there, talaga. The fact it's a stones through away from P. Burgos St is completely irreverent :rofl

When I first saw this group in 2006 Mocha was only 3 girls. She added 2 others about 3 years ago. She is not huge on the international stage (yet), but is really huge in the Philippines and throughout the Pacific area.
Ok, that was last night... tonight on to somewhere else to continue my relaxing... yea, with entertainment like this around I really feel relaxed :tailed-devil
