OK boys & girls, here is this week's maintenance test: During an open-cockpit day, some guest got our sixes' throttle quadrant stuck in the idle position. It had full-travel when we took her out. The linkage from the base of the quadrant through the seat bulkhead moves a tiny bit (a few mms of travel) but nothing usable. One of the Crewdawgs said there may be a linkage stuck in the engine bay. Aircraft has no engine installed. Any suggestions out there? This should shake out some cobwebs.

I recall a problem one day on the trim pad. I could not get the engine to hold trim. EPR would always be different eachtime I ran the engine up. Temp & dew point remaind the same so the TRT EPR was always the same. It was determined that the throttle telaflex (spelling?) was loose and or sloppy. You might have a problem it that is still installed. Just an idea to check, maybe its hung up or jamed. :scratch_head

Doesn't the throttle have to be moved outboard before it can be moved to off? ? I am assumming that you can't move it to off as well as no military movement..... Perhaps something has fallen down inside the track that prevents fwd/aft movement.. Does this throttle still have the old run around dust cover that travels with the throttle? I thought that these had been removed by tcto sometime in the 60s for thvery problem you are talking about.... I would gain access to the linkage attach point on the quadrant itself and be sure the problem isn't in the quadrant itself... If OK, then it could be as Bull says, linkage hung up in the engine bay, or the teleflex cable itself could be binding in the conduit.....

:thanks Thanks for all the suggestions. Good ideas that I will explore once I get the jammer running. Going to bleed the injectors tomorrow. Then I'll address the throttle issue. Stay tuned, I'll have more test questions coming.
@jim. The throttle has a rubber gasket that the grip passes thru.

I can remember two different issues of stuck throttle at Tyndall when I was there. Both cases were FOD inside mechanism. And in both cases it was one of those old ceremic fuses that were on back side of both consoles. And in both cases the throttle froze in Idle. Made for scary landings. But I also remember the cable from throttle quadrant was a funky type. It had multiple flat metal stripes inside round flexable cable. It could cause sticking throttle, but never heard of it freezing.
