Mark, right in front of both intakes were racks for MA-1 system components. The screens were so we could open equipment doors and change "black boxes" under engine power. We called it "Quick fix" and it was a very routine thing back in 60's and early 70's before some improvement mods took place. MA-1 was great system, when it was working, but it required a lot of fixes.

Good evening Mark, As far as the weight, back then, no problem, and the air kind of sucked them in place. A couple wiggles and they came down no issue. Now if I tried the same thing today, I would more than likely break a hip, or pull something that shouldn't be pulled!!

Notice, also, no air compressor or power unit. Must have been quick fix time.

1st scheme worn by the 194 FIS at fresno WAG Hey WAG! :welcome to the forums! Are you an old 194th guy by chance? Cool photo, and I agree it was the first "scheme", but perhaps not the first "markings" worn by the 194th. I offer the photo below (taken August, 1976) for your consideration. Yes, that's them! Don't be a stranger, and I hope you have some fun here! Mark O

I guess this as good a place for this question as any. A couple of weeks ago my wife took me to the Hiller Air Museun for my birthday. While there I was looking over items in the gift shop when I struck up a conversation with a docent (Navy type). I asked him if they had any F-106 items (they had duece items) and he replied something to the effect that "6" was the plane Bush flew while in th Guard. I was always under the impression that Bush only flew the duece (when he showed up at all.) Can anybody enlighten me on this?

There is no record of Bush flying a Six.
The problem, as I see it, most people don't know the difference between the Deuce and the Six, and lump them together.
When you point out the differences, some just nod, shrug their shoulders, eyes glaze over and wonder what kind of fanatic you are.
After all, are not all Delta Wing Airplanes the same?
