is the drone program going to continue from the US? This bird wud seem to be a natural. Especially if the costs wud be less than the current price tags for manned machines.

Burt Rutan has a mammoth advantage over the large aerospace companies.
He doesn't have to go through layer, after layer of pencil pushers, bean counters and management to get a plane designed and built.
He just does it.
Too bad he isn't SecDef.
Maybe then things would get on an even keel and we would not be worrying about all the PC stuff.
I would like to see the "Mudfighter" bought and put in service.

doubt it....although neat looking and futuristic....it doesn't seem to have the payload of a WH...gun and a couple of weapons pods still can't compete with the WH.....
warthog...so ugly that the earth repells it.....
but dang if it ain't a neat airplane..

it has got to be one of the most beautiful purpose built machines ever made. you cant really call it ugly if it does exactly what it was supposed to do.
BUT
A bit of lipstick, some fancy make-up, a low cut top and a mini skirt wouldnt hurt. She might still look like a drag queen, but some of the warts wouldnt be showing.
I used to watch them flying around Tucson when I worked there. Between the sound and the profile it was great watching them.

Does anyone else remember that old saying, "Uglier than a bowling shoe?"
It's been awhile since I went bowling, but that saying had to start somewhere other than from my dad!

Only thing I'd replace the Hog with is a revamped Hog, with lighter and stronger composites and expanded onboard sensors and weapons options--something like the A-10B was planned as, but in both single- and dual-seat versions. Also, have the entire revamp navalized so that USAF, USN and USMC could all use the same bird with just a few minor part swaps... call it JCAS, maybe? (Joint CAS)

The upgraded A-10C is an awesome upgrade with a glass cockpit, advanced avionics and weapons and carries a crap-load of ordnance now. It will be around, and not replaced, for another 20+ years. Good stuff :2thumbsup

True, Lead, the -C is very good--I'm just saying it still has room to be even better.
