Erv Smally's site shows the last two F-106s at AMARC convairf106deltadart.homestead.com/DavisMonthan14.htmlYesterday, I talked to Tom Mitchell, Historian at the Tyler TX Historical Aviation Memorial Museum. They have been asked by the USAF Museum if they want to make a home for 59-0043. They have been waiting since August 2005 for a price quote from AMARC to move the bird to an off-site vendor for shipment preparation. Still no word yet but Tom will lets us know as soon as he hears something. Tom wanted me to tell you all that on March 25, 2006 they are going to dedicate a famous F-4 that was flown by former 456th FIS, F-106 pilot Bill Curnutte (now deceased). Bill's son will be on hand for the ceremony and would like to invite all F-106 and F-4 fans to attend if they can. Take Care & Merry Christmas to all Pat's World members, Pat Perry 456th FIS 66-68

Dumb question. What happened to 079 and the B model that were there and under control of the GSA? Did they get junked?

That means there are only 33 left. I think the two museum birds will eventually go on display. What a sad sight to see the two GSA birds junked like that. I feel so fortunate that we could get done what we got done.
While I'm posting, does anybody know the where abouts of a couple of inlet covers? Would look better than just sheet metal. The bird really looks good sitting on the gear.

Sure hope 043 is saved & displayed somewhere. I remember working on it in the frozen land of Loring. Also hope someone finds a way to get a "six" flying again. That would really be something to see.....

Hi, I thought that the NJANG was going to get 043. Did the deal fall apart? BRG, Jon Jon, I believe it did fall apart. Last time I talked with Dave Whalen at McGuire AFB the interest on getting the six had fallen off sharply. I suppose their time to raise funds expired and it went to the next requestor in line. At any rate, the Tyler, TX Historical Aviaition Memorial Museum is waiting for AMARC to set the price for it. We'll see what happens. Thanks, Pat Perry 456th FIS
