Thanks for the comments guys! You know, the camera I have is very nice. It's a Canon T2i less than a year old. The lens however is a 10-year old Tamron 28-300mm 1:3.5-6.3 specifically built for my old Canon Rebel 35mm. Not bad, but I really need a digital zoom with the same range. Love the flexibility of the lens, it's just not the greatest anymore. I am glad I've been able to get some longevity out of it however. Here are a few pics of some classic CAF aircraft. Mark

:2thumbsup
Mark all of the pictures are great. Don't get rid of your "old" camera if it takes pictures like the ones you posted.
The picture of the "Old Vet", standing at his wheelchair is priceless.
Too bad we don't see the same attitude toward our Anthem and Standard among all of our people.
I hope you had the opportunity to talk to him.

Amen Jim Too!
Mark, don't give up on that old lens, it's stil capable of good pics. I say if it works then keep it and use it! If it's a metering issue or a functionality issue, then by all means, replace it. But the quality of the pictures is fine.

BTW, what airplane is the 4th frame down, gray w/ red tail? That's a former US Navy P-2 Neptune now a "slurry bomber" used by Neptune Aviation Services out of Missoula, MT for fighting fires. We've had a BUNCH of those guys for over a month due to all the wild fires in Texas. Abilene is a nice, central location to base these guys during fire season, and boy, oh boy have they been busy. This guy was not part of the show, and I'm not sure if he was taking off on a real mission, but it's possible. I think he did that low take-off knowing he had an audience! Here's a shot of another P-2 on display during the show. Honestly, I don't think it was a planned display as mechanics were actually working on the engines as the airshow was going on. (Note the truck and trailer, and the ladder under the engine.) I think he broke there, so they just decided to let him stay where he was for the show! Mark
