My 171st tribute model. I grew up next to Selfridge and would watch the Sixes and marvel at their beauty. I always loved seeing the drag chute on the landing roll out. I searched and searched for ideas for drag chutes but I couldn't find any realistic examples. I stumbled upon a 1962 Boys Life ad for a race car model that came with a drag chute....amazingly I found an unopened kit on ebay (it wasn't cheap!). Though the scale of the chute is a little large, I am very pleased with look. :e8new

It was part of a 1962 Revell race car model (Attempt 1). It's made out of two molded styrofoam panels with two sections of the chute on each panel. I had to trim the 4 styrofoam chute panels out of the sheets and glue them together. The tricky part is trying to neatly trim the holes in the panels. I used a woodburning craft tool to melt the holes, then painted it. I then used fine wire for chute cord and a short section of metal hangar for the main line. I also had to neatly cut the the elevons and reposition them so they were in the elevated position.... they come molded drooping down. :fire_missle_ani
