F-89J 53-2522 on approach to runway 27 at Duluth for all you old 11th FIS/343rdFG types. 522's paint job was for the 1965 Ricks Trophy Competition at Tyndall for the ANG F-89 units. 179th FIS Commander and winning team captain was Maj Al Amatuzio founder of AMZOIL. photo by MGen Wayne Gatlin

F-89J 53-2522 on approach to runway 27 at Duluth for all you old 11th FIS/343rdFG types. ... Wow! Gorgeous photo!! I've got a Revell 1/48 scale Scorpion just waiting to be built - okay, been waiting for several years - and this is one scheme I have never seen. Right now the plan is for an 84th FIS F-89, but I've got a really big grin going on for that one! Mark

Mark, Go to the Wings Palette site for a great profile drawing of 522. Three of our '89's were given that paint job for the competition and all three retained it until they went to other units or the bone-yard. Airliners.net has a shot of poor old 522 at DM.
