From AFA Dialy Update
Embraer Announces Light Air Support Partnership: Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer has teamed with Sierra Nevada in the competition to supply the Air Force's Light Air Support platform. FlightGlobal reports that US-based Sierra Nevada would be the prime contractor to build Embraer's Super Tucano light attack aircraft in Jacksonville, Fla., if the Air Force chooses this airplane. The Super Tucano is pitted against the AT-6 that the Lockheed Martin-Hawker Beechcraft team if offering. The Air Force seeks a platform with which to instruct its own pilots, who will then train airmen of partner air forces flying light attack aircraft in roles like counterinsurgency. The LAS contract award is expected in June. The Air Force is also overseeing the acquisition of 20 LAS airframes for the Afghan air force. (See also Aviation International News report)

I agree Jim. USAF and the Fed Gov't never should have given away all those OV-10A Broncos.

The T-6II and the T-1 are both made by Hawker Beechcraft. We have Italian helicopters. There are several other planes built outside the U.S. In my thinking that is stupid. Yes, Beech is an old American Aeroplane company, but it is now British owned. We have too many things in this country that are not ours. There are no computers, telephones, TV sets, radios, cell phones, cameras, and on, and on, that are made here. They are all made in the Orient. Look at the labels on your clothing, linens, appliances. Shell Oil is owned by the Netherlands royal family. BP is British Petroleum. Citgo is owned by Venezuela. Let alone all the "American" cars that are built in Red China, Mexico and Canada. We now have a reversal. Korea, Japan and Germany are now building cars here. I'm not a jingoist, or an isolationist, but isn't it well past the time we built our own stuff? AGAIN.We used to, and were the envy of the world. Jim Too
