Again the ladies of our Church this year had a cookie baking for our local troops. I made a delivery of over 20 dozen cookies & other treats to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Crew (OFSPREY) stationed in our local town of Port Townsend. My wife is the Director of Womens Minestries at our Church. She was out of town on a business trip so I was asked to make contact with the Coast Guard Detachment to see if they would like a goodie box for the holidays. Didn't have to ask them twice and the were very touched that we thought of them. I delivered the goodie box the next day (yesterday). Most of the crew were out on the boat and only two young troops were in the office. They followed me out to get the big box. It took up the whole passanger seat. The young kid maybe all of 20 or 21 said, Wow that allot of goodies with a big smile on his face. I replied, Yes it is, and you guys have a weight standard to maintain so don't try and eat it all in one day. The three of us stood there and had a nice laugh. They then thanked me several times and we shook hands. I advised the troops that I had nothing to do with the cookies as it was all done by the ladies in the Church - I was just the delivery boy. But it did give me this great warm feeling inside to be part of it. My wife and maybe a few of the ladies of the Church will be delivering another goodie box next week to a detachment of U.S. Marines should they choose to accept it. :us_flag
