Hello All - The McChord Air Museums F-106 is back ! She was moved back into position on Heritage Hill at McChord Field (sigh) in the middle of October. I've posted a collection of photos on Photobucket - - you can reach the page using a link from our Museum's website - www.mcchordairmuseum.org/REV%20B%20MAM%20REST%20HANGAR%20PAINTING%20PROJECTS.htm(just click on the picture of -0459 and it will take you to the site) - As you may notice, we reached back and brought her back into the ADC - while taking a little political license with the fuel tank markings ! Overall - the McChord Paint shop did an ok job - there are a lot of details missing and more than a few issues (some correctable) - we'll get her back into shape in no time ! Its good to see her with a fresh coat of paint ! Ernie

Those photos bring back the memories. I worked Jet Engine Dispatch Flightline (1975-1978) and our engine shop was in the northside of the ADC hanger that the Museum uses for retoration work. I've worked on that same F-106A parked in that same hanger location. I've also worked on it and many others out in the Alert barns. Great to have them photos as it used to sit on alert. All that was missing was AGE Equipment and the red fuel cans. Sorry to see that the alert barn walls are not being cared for. Those alert barns are an important part of ADC history and the cold war. Museum is doing a fantastic job. Still miss my time at the museum.

Thank Guys ! The new paint for our Six and -15 has been long awaited for both aircraft! Both bird's were the last of our collection to be re-painted - - that is before we got our C-130 !
I can answer Jim's tractor question - - The Maintenance folks selection of this particular tractor comes from the location of the display - a hilly, grassy area. They felt the supped-up tractor would give them the traction necessary - especially for the F-15 - which has been a very tricky move. The jet is pretty much a complete F-15- - - less 2 or 3 "black" boxes and fuel !
The -15 has a few accuracy issues as well (thats just my analness showing through) but we were paid a very great complement by a Eagle Driver from Oregon during the last airshow - He said the jet was the best F-15 he has ever seen - - ahh the good old days of Hi-vis markings !
