Armed Forces Day was always special. With F-106's, B-52's, KC-135's what was there not to love?

The base open house was usually pretty good too!

During the time I spent at Griffiss AFB 70 - 72 the base open house were always good and even better if the Thunderbirds were performing. The F-106's would do a 4-ship formation fly-by and the second pass would be the missing man formation to honon those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. And the B-52 and KC-135's from the 416th Wing would do fly by's too. To see them so a high speed pass and max climb was always a good crowd pleaser

I guess I need to add a KC and a Buff. Too bad I did't have a better camera back in those days.

I have a few more including the ones about to be attached. You professionals were using 35 mm and I was using a Polaroid 126.

I've got some of the mock-up that I can post when I get home, plus some during one of the last open houses I was there for.
