Historian, Author Wolk Dies: My timing on the kids joke was a bit off. That's sad news about Mr. Wolk. I enjoyed his work. Mark

good timing...different threads for different responses!! That's fair! Thanks for the info on Mr. Wolk, and I hope you learned your lesson on the United States of America's manufacturing system. Like my FE instructor and I agreed today, you learn something new everyday! :teacher Mark Oh, as far as the "new" tanker goes; by the time they decide on which one to buy, the existing KC-135s will be rotting in the desert at D-MAFB, we'll just be flying unrefuelable drones, and any future refineable gas will be floating on the surface of our dead oceans. Or not. Just sayin'....

we do a lot of tanker missions at tcm...also there a lot of AWACS coming and going... the 707 is definitely a good airframe.. i was doing a cargo download on a 135 a few weeks ago and the pilot mentioned the fact that the jet was older than he was... my first ride on a 707 was when we pcsed to tcm from hik in '64... that was a good ride, because in '61 the trip was from suu to hik on a prop job with the seats facing aft...no wonder i'm a little off kilter...10 hours of watch where i came from..
