For you guys who were in the 95th FIS , I have heard the 95th Fighter Squadron at Tyndall may be deactivated this October. The 95th has a long history , hate to see it go. :salute :us_flag

One of my favorite 95th FIS tail marking schemes. This was from William Tell in 72. Of course the squadron was deactivated in September 2010... :salute

How about this shot of 57-2522?! Anyone know who the Lt. Col. on the left is? Note that he is wearing an F-102 shoulder patch. The gent on the right is Lt. General Edward Snedeker, USMC, commander of the Marine Corps School at Quantico from 1959-1963. jetpilotoverseas.wordpress.com/2012/12/02/95th-fis-major-and-guest-delta-dagger-f-102-1960s/Looks like the guy who posted the photo originally thought is was an F-102, but was corrected in the comments. I too have looked for a list of 95th FIS commanders, but haven't had any luck. That site actually has added a few interesting F-106 photos I haven't seen before! Check these out, especially the 71st FIS!! Just scroll down. Too many to save and post right now! jetpilotoverseas.wordpress.com/category/f-106-delta-dart/

From the 95th FIS glory days. Found on Flickr with the caption that is was taken in 1967 at an airshow/open house at Dulles IAP, in Washington DC. I really like this photo for a bunch of reasons. First off, it's a very well-composed shot. I really like the dad dragging his daughters to the show! (Lord, I've done that enough!!) The daughter in the skirt is still daddy's girl, so she is interested in his interests. His other two girls in shorts are just along for the day! In fact, I really like the 1967 look of the clothes everyone is wearing. ("Dad's" high water pants. The guy with the plaid shorts, and black socks! Just love it!) I also noticed the lack of markings on the tail flash. Should be the Air Defense Command insignia, and since this was taken in 1967 I guess it's possible they just haven't put it there yet. Not sure. Notice also the markings on the helmet. It's hard to see, but pretty cool. And for you modelers out there please take note of the silver landing gear struts. Very important you all do your research!! Enjoy!

Mark, after the 539th basically merged into the 95th in August/Sept 1967, It looks like someone merged the Mr. Bones logo into the 539th yellow tail flash and came up with a design that showed the lineage from both.

I always thought it had to do with the lightning bolt in the 95th FIS patch. What is this merger thing you speak of?
