I saw this in Air Force Times. Anyone seen a Hughes Trophy laying around?
The 83rd Fighter Interceptor Squadron Reunion Association is attempting to locate the Hughes Trophy awarded the squadron in 1961 at Hamilton Air Force Base, Calif. This award recognized the Air Force’s outstanding fighter interceptor squadron. The prestigious and valuable trophy was last known to be on display at the Hamilton Officers’ Club in 1962 prior to the squadron’s deactivation. Contact Bob Douglass, 1200 Lynwood Drive, Novato, CA 94947-4848; phone (915) 892-4415; e-mail rndouglass @marincounty.net.

Don't need to wish me luck! Ain't my trophy - I just thought that was interesting.
However, if the trophy was passed from unit to unit, wouldn't they give a smaller version for the unit to hold on to and keep in the unit trophy case?
I've only been in one unit that deactivated and as I recall alot of the souveniers were snatched up by whoever was there when they cleaned that office (or whatever) out. I got stuck cleaning the attic so didn't get anything but dirty!!
