Gen. Lew Allen dies
SAN ANTONIO (AFNS) -- Gen. Lew Allen Jr., the 10th chief of staff of the Air Force, passed away Jan. 4 in Potomac Falls, Va. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made but burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.

:salute My Civil Air Patrol "Billy Mitchell Award" was signed by General Allen in March 1981 back when the USAF CofS still signed those awards. The CAP Commander started signing them the next year. He wasn't the first CofS I ever heard of, but he was the first that I really knew about. My Mitchell Award is on the left in this pic. The Earhart Award is on the right. (March 1982) I have them hanging in my garage/man cave. Mark

OUTSTANDING... had a real good friend in CAP at mcchord back in the '80's. Wow! I was in Moses Lake Composite Squadron from 1979 to 1983. I knew a few folks from the "West Side", even McChord. CAP was small then - like it still is - albeit smaller now. I stay in touch with a bunch of them on Facebook. Mark
