In the Loring AFB yahoo group photo section Jim Calarese posted some old pictures taken at Loring between 1956 and 1960. Jim was in the 42nd. OPS Squadron (SAC) with the photo lab. Jim's pictures include a B52 fire, Jimmy Stewart in a flight suit by a B52 and 2 F-106 pictures. The purpose of the '6 pictures was to contrast the old and new ('59) flight suits of the pilots! If anyone (The Old Sarge) recognizes the pilots, please provide their names! Here are the 2 F-106 pictures! Photo by A/2C Jim Calarese Photo by A/2C Jim Calarese The URL for the Loring AFB Yahoo group is: groups.yahoo.com/group/Loring_AFB/The URL for the photo section of the Yahoo group "Loring 57-60" photo album is: groups.yahoo.com/group/Loring_AFB/photos/album/90181936/pic/list?mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&dir=ascYou must join the Loring AFB Yahoo group to see the pictures. It's hard to believe that these pictures are over a half century old! Bill Hamilton

Those look like WSMs to me............ Will contact 3 27 pilots from that time frame that might recognize them........ Notice the yellow and black checkerboard scarf the oldtimer is wearing...........

to the forums Bill!! Have you been to the "Loring Remembers" web site? www.loringremembers.com/homeI just found a couple of photos there that really caught my eye. The one of 59-0039 is the only photo I've seen of that aircraft before it crashed in 1963. (It was on our dear friend Erv Smalley's wish list for several years.) I have seen plenty of photos of 59-0044, but this one has the buzz numbers, so it too is neat. Both photos are on the Loring site via John Garbinski. (Credit where credit is due!), and I put them on the 27th FIS page already. That photo above is a BIG FIND!!! Put's us down to 19 on the missing photos list!!
