At the same time that Convair and others were working on highly dangerous aircraft that went far too high and way too fast there were more sensible companies making far safer aircraft. The Avro VZ-9AV Avrocar is the safest production aircraft ever made and still holds the record for lowest ceiling of 36” and lowest top speed of 50 millimach. No U.S. made jet aircraft have even approached these records that were set nearly 50 years ago. The aircraft disappeared during testing and it is suspected that the CIA stole them and moved one or more to Area 51. There, in a top secret program, the VZ-9AV planform was combined with classified American rubber aircraft technology as shown here. The resulting prototype aircraft with even lower ceiling and top speed than the Avrocar is the world’s first Politically Correct aircraft. It is also the first that is suitable for children to play with. Due to budget cuts the aircraft is not yet in production but it’s coming. There are no photographs of the hybrid aircraft because it is still highly SECRET and EYES ONLY and all that sort of thing. Tell NO ONE about this! OPSEC is all over the place.

Powered with corn, right. Well, jimpadgett, a Politically Correct aircraft like the Avrocar/Inflatoplane hybrid would have to run on Politically Correct fuel like E-85. It is made from corn and takes more fuel to make then it gives back. Thanks for pointing that out. My post is inspired by a passage in a book by Palmiro Campagna called, “Storms of Controversy”. On page 192 he writes, He also mentions with regards to the Avrocar, the CIA, Project Y, a ceiling of 102,000 feet and, a top speed of mach 3. Palmiro is a government funded hero to millions of Canadians but I just find him funny. His work is every bit as amusing as Erich Von Daniken’s (author of “Chariots of the Gods”). [My work is funnier than theirs but the government won’t give me a dime. Go figure.] Remembering that the ongoing development would have taken place at about the same time that Nader killed the Corvair (for no good reason) I just imagined the direction that work on project Y could have taken. The only major change I had to make was ”skunk works” to “area 51” because there is nothing to suggest that Lockheed ever did any work on flying saucers. All we need now is a picture of the hybrid but that is going to be tough because there is OPSEC all over the place down at Groom Lake.
