I have been watching the History Channels series on Dogfightts. Excellent imagery and stories. One in particula that surprised me was in Korea. Then Captain Robbie Risner (Former VN POW) actually pushed his wingmans F-86 in air to help get him to safety. The others cover Col Olds, the Flying Tigers, and more.
I am watching it online via NetFlix, no plug meant. But I can say I have a coupon I received for a months free membership for a freind. Anyone want it email or PM me it's yours. I just need an email to forward it to. No catch connected.

" Then Captain Robbie Risner (Former VN POW) actually pushed his wingmans F-86 in air to help get him to safety."While I was at Ubon, 8th TFW, 433rd TFS, we had a push incident. While over the North, one of our F4s got a hit in the wing and was losing fuel. As he was getting lower on fuel, his wingman went behind and under him to observe. When his fuel level went to flame out, the chase told the other guy to drop his tail hook. The chase put up his refuel door and flew up and got the tail hook against the refuel receptacle. Then he began to push the plane until they got over the Mekong River and safety. Seeing as he was getting close to fuel out, he dropped back and the other plane went in to a long glide until he was getting too low and then he and the GIB took the silk elevator down to be picked up by a Jolly who was waiting for them. That took place in 1967. As I recall, the pusher pilot got an DFC for his action. At least I think that is what medal he got. Lose one Phantom, but saved the crew. That's the way teamwork is supposed to work in combat. Robin Olds and Chappie James were the Wing CO and DCO at that time. Quite the good time to be at Ubon. Jim

I always watch "Dogfights". It's a great show. They have some awesome air combat stories. Wife leaves the room when I put it on.
