MAX EFFORT by the 36TASS at McChord AFB,WA because of squadron deactivation. They all flew around the state in formation. It was awesome. Think was late 1980's. My pictures with a cheap Kodack pocket camera and 110 film. Not the best results.

funny i took a similar pic with them lined up on Charlie ramp...that was before they left for good...they did it 3 times in the '70's... used a tripod. a 4X5 camera on a cherry picker... i was slightly above... made a 6 foot wide B&W for their orderly room... came out nice...

Gene, as I was assigned to 62 AMS from 1980-1983 I was Branch Chief for MAC Simulators. I was also lead for the installation of new C-130 Simulator. I later supported C-130 Sim as part of C-130 Simulator acquisition team at WPAFB. We bought visual system for simulator as well as making updates to Basic Simulator. I remember seeing big pics of C-130 in both 36 TAS and 62AMS Sq. Were you still in Photo shop when we did grand opening of new C-130 building? I don't remember but it was front page in Base paper when we did opening, lots of big wigs from both base and HQ MAC. I had the best office on base. My office in new simulator facility had wrap around window that let me see Mt Rainier every day (weather permitting). The Airlift Wing Commander was jealous and once told me he wanted my office.

Yea, but the pic was the Navy version, or am I seeing things? Oh well. Just another tool in the 'Swiss army knife' of airplanes -- the Herc!! EC-130V Airborne early warning and control variant used by USCG for counter-narcotics missions in 1991.[7] It was used by the U.S. Navy 1992-1994 and then by the USAF as NC-130H. Mark O

I wonder how many remember the original Military Air Transport Service (MATS). This was actually a DoD Joint Service Agency and included Naval Air Wings. My first F-106 assignment was to 539 FIS at McGuire AFB NJ. It was part of MATS and included Divisions under Majcom. We had a Navy Airlift Wing at McGuire early on. MATS was replaced by Military Airlift Command (MAC) in 1966 while I was still assigned there. At that point, MATS was disbanded and the Navy units were no longer part of Unified Command, however all the Tactical aircraft Wings included in TAC were transferred to MAC. 1 June 1992, most of MAC's personnel and equipment were reassigned to the new Air Mobility Command (AMC). I had retired by the time AMC was formed, but I worked with them as Contractor at WPAFB. Scott AFB IL was HQ for all three of Units. I was associated with all three Units, but was only Technically assigned to MAC while stationed at McChord. Gas is $3.25 and weather is perfect, mid 70's and sunny. Lorin
