I'm going to try and get some Six chatter going again. I'm sure many of us have heard the expression "If you fly it, you break it." about the Six. So here's my question. What was the longest (days, sorties, whatever) you saw one F-106A or B fly with successive Code 1 returns? What base? What tail # if you can remember? And if you can really remember, what finally broke? For me at Langley, it was #59133 after we came back from William Tell in 1978. My best recollection is it flew twice a day for the next three weeks before a radar tracking problem knocked it down to a Code 2. I guess that would have been about 30 sorties. :fire_missle_ani

That beats the hell out of anything I saw at Minot and Duluth when I was there '69-73. Of course we didn't have the many upgrades y'all had on the jets by 1978... :e8new

This doesn't break your record; but my jet, 58-772 at KI Sawyer, set this record in the 1984-85 time frame when the airframe was older. 13 code one sorties in a row was my record. I still have the "atta-boy" in my possesion that our maintence officer and/or CMSgt initiated and the DCM signed.
It was unheard of at that time. There was also time period before it left for the boneyard that I had my jet on a black letter inital because we had enough down time that I had cleared all the write-ups in the 781K (I may not have AFTO form letter correct).
Don't remember exactly what broke the trend, but it may been something to do with the drag chute not deploying. Whatever it was that broke the jet, it turned out to be an easy fix.

This is really interesting. When I started this thread I figured to see all kinds of responses of various aircraft whipping #133's tail for code 1's.
