:patriotic-flagwaver Each Sunday at our worship service we have a time of silent prayer that is closed by one of the men in the pews praying. On the overhead screen are the pictures of members of the Armed Forces from our church who are serving in the "battle" areas. To-day, one picture was removed. It was a praise that the young Army Specialist is home from Iraq. We have a Marine in Afghanistan, an Army member in Iraq , one Air Force member in Iraq and one Air Force member in Qatar, but TDY in Iraq for two weeks. We have a number of retired military in the congregation and some who served a shorter time. There are also a few active duty who attend with their families. What a privilege to bring these men to the Throne of Grace and ask the Lord to guide and protect them. We are not far from San Antonio and there are lots of Army and Air Force active duty families living in New Braunfels and the towns between us and Santone. Please, my fellow Patriots, remember to pray for our troops. Not just the ones serving in the "Sand", but the ones here at home and at bases scattered around the world and on ships and submarines in the Blue Waters of the world. Also remember the Coast Guard as they perform their duties in keeping our waters safe and their part in drug interdiction. We who have served know how special it is to know the folks back home are praying for us and looking to the day we are once again safe at home. Jim

was going to complain about how hot it is... then I realized that at least: 1.) it isn't 109 degrees; 2.) I'm not 5,700 miles from home; 3.) I'm not dressed in a full BDU uniform and helmet and carrying 70+ lbs.; and 4.) there is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road today! Thanks to all who serve !!!

This note is from the mother of an Airman in Afghanistan. She is a friend of our daughter. There is still lots of prayer needed for our troops in the "Sand", and for their families.
Jim Too
Hi, As you may have heard, Kandahar Air Field was attacked by a Taliban suicide bomber earlier today. Chris sent an email to his wife saying that everything's under control now and he is fine. He wanted to make sure no one paniced when we heard the news. He actually sent the email before the news even broke locally so I am very thankful for his internet service!!!! I am also very thankful for God's hand of protection on Chris. I won't lie...I cried tears of relief, and tears of fear. But, he is fine and doing well. If there's anything I've learned, it's that everyday we must fully surrender to the Will of God and remain in worshipful praise for all He is. It's hard when we go through these things, but there's more going on down here than what we see and God can be trusted with the final outcome. After all, He did provide us with the comfort we have in Jesus through the work of His Holy Spirit! That's the kind of Love we have for eternity! Thanks for keeping Chris and all our troops in prayer! Love,
