AJ, I'd like to meet with you in October when I'm in D.C., but the problem is we have only two nights in D.C. We are committed to meet with my old co-worker, hunting & fishing buddy with a trip out to the air museum near Dullas Airport. Our last trip I didn't get to visit the Pentagon and I want to do that so both days are used up. Maybe something will work out to work in a lunch or something.

Gary,
That would be great. Where are you staying? Also my only problem is I have been pretty much housebound for nearly two years due to the stroke. Getting out is hard.
Do contact Mr. Daso. I have talked to him on a few other subjects. I'll see if I have my old Suitland MD contacts in restorations. Who knows a SIX might be a potential for them. Be nice huh?

If you have never met someone from the forum and you have the opportunity do so-do it...........You have time to set something up......... I know because the 1st guy I met was Pat Perry who, with his wife Judy were on their to LA for their son's wedding and he drove about 150 or so out of their way to visit Sandy and I........ Since then I have met 13 more SIXERS from the forum and spent at least a night with 3 of them.........Hopefully ,we were as good guests as they were hosts... We are planning to be at the 456th reunion in Colorado Springs next year........ Hope you 2 can get together..... The Old Sarge BTW, how about everyone putting their location in their profile, that way , if agreeable to a visit, a traveler might be able to include you in his plan, ye be a willin o'course

AJ,,,Is there a coffee shop or cafe close by your place? Belinda and I will be staying at the Hilton up on the hill. We stayed there several years ago. It's the same hotel Reagon was wounded at. I don't have it's information handy right now. Send me your address & phone in a PM and I'll look it up on google maps and see what can be worked out. Our jet leaves Baltimore at 4:00PM so maybe that morning we can meet for coffee and some donuts. The drive to Balitmore Airport can't take too long. Anyone ever driven it before? Who else lives in D.C maybe we can have a mini F-106 reunion at starbucks or another coffee shop. (*"Please, No politics talk in meeting"*) Jim, you are correct, meeting with fellow sixer's is a good thing. I'm a member of a military gaming clan and we play computer games on line together. Most of our members are in the Pacific Northwest but a few are scattered around the country. One of the guys from Alaska was visiting in Seattle and sent out a message to meet at Iver's Seafood House on the Seattle waterfront. I took the ferryboat that day across Puget Sound and six of us guys met and had a late lunch. It was great to put faces to the names and voices. Turned out he and I loved to Salmon fish and he lives one block off the Keni River. One of the best salmon fishing rivers in Alaska. I have an open inventation any time.

Hey Bull, If you go to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum at Dulles and go on a docent tour, see if Fred Williams has a tour that day. Fred was a pilot with the 456th FIS and gave us a fantastic tour of the museum in 2008 at our reunion. Here's more info on him: Fred Williams: "I have over 2500 hours in the F-106, having served in Dart squadrons in numerous capacities including Commander of the 49th FIS, Griffith AFB, N.Y. I ferried them brand new out of the Convair Plant in Palmdale, Calif, I was a flight test pilot, Instructor pilot, F-106 instructor at the USAF Interceptor Weapons School, specializing in weapons deployment, including nuclear armament, helped develop and trained Air Defense Command aircrews in Aerial Combat Tactics, (dog fighting) I also have around 1000 of F-102 time plus 196 combat missions in the RF-4 in Vietnam and was Dir of Operations of F-4E wing in Alaska and Dir Of Operations at the the USAF Air Defense Weapons School at Tyndall AFB." Have a great trip! Pat P. :us_flag

AJ,,, The drive to Balitmore Airport can't take too long. Anyone ever driven it before? Who else lives in D.C maybe we can have a mini F-106 reunion at starbucks or another coffee shop. (*"Please, No politics talk in meeting"*) I live in southern PA, but do a good bit of my consulting in the DC area. In fact my last gig was right off Hwy 28 near the museum. During off peak hours I could get from Crystal City to the BWI exit in about 30 minutes shooting up 295. But to make a 4pm flight I'd give myself no less than an hour and its a coin toss whether I295 or I95 will be the most favorable. I295 can get pretty choked down around Andrews and Goddard. If I'm thinking the right Hilton and that's where you leave from, Connecticut Ave should be a straight shot north to I495. A couple miles east on it and you pick up I95 north. The BWI exit is now I195 that takes you right to the terminals and also has exit for rental cars. If you're leaving from the museum, you'll be over in the Chantilly/Herndon area. In that case, you could either go south to I66 and east to the beltway, or take Hwy 28 north and look to cut east off of it (Hwy 7 or 50?). If traffic cooperates, it's about 40 minutes from that point to Ft. Meade, which is just south of BWI. Basically, I try to avoid I495 whenever possible after 15:30. Earlier if its a Friday. Recommend you check the time on your mapquest route, double it and then pat yourself on the back for being a highly intelligent Sixer for hopefull getting to BWI a little early. Have Fun.

I would loveto have any F-106 troops stop by for a visit if in the area of northern Alabama (only 6 miles off I-65). Could a place be set aside on this site for a listing of people interested in entertaining visitors. If a person is interested, they could put their name on this list along with their location & a way to contact. Just a thought.
Also, myself & two other members have put a list of mostly MA-1 personell from Loring (1968 to 1972). We have 60 names so far. Anyone interested in adding names or getting copy of list, please let me know.
