My father, James M. Heishman, passed away in October of 1999 just short of his 63rd birthday. He served in the United States Air Force with the 95th FIS. I remember as a small boy living at Dover AFB, Kingsley Field, and Oxnard CA. At a very young age I knew I wanted to follow in my fathers footsteps and go into the Air Force, which I did from 1983 to 1994 and I was stationed at Dover AFB. Coming to this website and looking at the pictures of the F-106 brings back many fond memories. I remember building a model of the F-106 shortly after I graduated from Basic Training and handing it to my father in 1983. If anyone remembers my father, I would love to hear from you.
In memory of James M. Heishman Oct. 25 1936 - Oct. 15 1999 I miss him terribly, but I thank the FIS veterans of helping bring some fond memories.

Your father was a great guy, remember him at the 95th Dover AFB. He was in charge of MA-1 B Flight in the 60's. He was a easy going Sarge and his troops really respected him. Heish will be missed. An Old MA-1 Troop

I knew your dad at Castle AFB about 1966-7 or so. I have him to thank for getting me to pull my head out of my butt and get on the right track. I had avoided taking on responsibility for most of my first hitch. When he became my NCOIC, he would have none of my crap and piled responsibility on my shoulders anyway. I found myself trying to live up to his expectations and I have to say that he was a major, major player in my life. I was looking forward to the 456 FIS reunions and seeing him again so I could thank him. Alas, I was saddened to learn of his passing.
