You might want to have that "deep feeling" checked.

I'm going to take that priceless information to the local coffee shop. I think that and a dollar ought to get me a cup of coffee.

Lugnuts, you better call ahead to make sure how much a cuppa joe costs at your local coffee shop. Maybe it's been a while since you priced it, but even Denny's is not charging $1.89. I have no idea what Starbucks gets for a cup of regular coffee. Many of us remember being able get a cup at the Woolworth's or Walgreen's lunch counter tor 5 cents and free refills. Ah, yes, the times they are a changing. :god_bless_usa

I'm not certain that Starbucks makes "regular" coffee...but they charge over $2 for a 16 oz cup of it.

Actually there is a local restaurant chain here called George Webb's that might charge a buck but since I hardly ever go there, or to Starbuck's, I don't really know.
When I have coffee in a restaurant, I don't look at how much it costs. Either way, the prices are getting a little out of hand. I might buy a coffee from McDonald's once in a while and I don't remember that being expensive. I'm talking about just plain coffee now, not all those fancy mocha's and whatever else they have.
I do remember 10 cent coffee at the Woolworth lunch counter with all the refills you could drink. I guess that went away with 25 cent gas.

We get together just about every day in the basement of a local business to have coffee(50c a cup) free refills to solve all the worlds problems. We have a pool table, poker table and other games. Lots of bull going around also.. We call it the OFC. Old Farts Club. We do let a few young farts in sometime I would say 30 to 35 of us get together on a day. Great time.. :bs

LOL I must be high maintenance--my cup of choice is Starbucks. To save $ I brew it at home, can't drink all those fancy mixes because everything has to be sugar-free now Splenda to be exact because I can't handle the side effects from Aspartame (Nutra-sweet). PS: Splenda with lots and lots of non-dairy creamer-- my husband likes to call it coffee flavored milk :razz

I wont go near a Starbucks, you can feel them taking your money as you walk in the door. I brew my own Folgers or Maxwell house and if I'm on the road usually some gas station or truck stop coffee isn't to bad.
I have cut down since the heart attack, down to 2 or 3 cups thru out the day. Use to be 2 or 3 pots as I would drink it all day long. It never affected my sleep either I could drink a cup before bed and sleep like a baby, but now....one cup a couple of hours before bed and I'm up all night.

;D I really like coffee. Strong, black coffee. Been drinking it since I was 13. Like Jeff, I counted how many pots a day I drank, not cups. I had a coffee cup in my hand most of the time. I, too, would drink coffee before I went to bed, and sleep like a babe. Then came Hyper-trophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy, with Mitral Regurgitation (look it up). That's the thing that young athletes die from for no reason. The directive from my cardio doc is, no caffeine. BUMMER! So, I began to try different de-caf coffees. San Francisco Bay whole beans is my favorite, but not available in San Antonio at Costco, and quite pricey to mail order. So tried Seattle Mountain Arabica whole bean from Costco and it is pretty good. I grind it quite fine and make three cups in the morning. Then Costco ran out and didn't get any for a while. So, I went to Costco and bought a 3 pound can, yep full three pounds, of Kirkland Ground Arabica de-caf for $8.99. It really has good, strong coffee flavor. And, it is a whole lot cheaper than Starbucks or Seattle's Best. When I want a cup of joe and am not home it is off to McDonald's. They have a formula that is consistently good. Plus the fact that a senior coffee is only fifty cents, including refills, makes it a good deal. But, I would still rather have "real" coffee, instead of de-caf. Growing up in San Francisco, I used to go by the Hills Brothers plant on the bus and boy did that place smell great. Roasting coffee has a very special aroma that really gets to you and makes you want a cup. Jim :god_bless_usa

I believe I read someplace that a cup of coffee or two was good for the heart situation. Anyway I buy Kona Hawaiian Coffee at the commassary. Works for me.

Had a glass of YANKEE iced tea(unsweetened) the other day at the Olive Garden here in Lakeland, Fla..........$2.09 - why .09!!!!!!!!!!!!!? Could have had a good cold :beer for .30 more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go figure........ BTW, just how many glasses of ice tea can you get from a pound of tea... In our travels we have paid from $1.55 to 2.35 for a cup of coffee... Some places charge .10 more for decaf - refills free of course................ The Old Sarge

Coffee goes from good for you to bad for you seemingly at the whim of the current surgeon general.
I've pretty much quit paying attention to it, and usually have 2 - 3 cups (16oz each) a day. I like it strong and black, no sugar. I've given up most of my other vices, not coffee.
