It seems to have been a slow week, but the same at other forums that I belong to.
My guess would be people getting out and about and summer breaks for kids/grandkids.

What is your observations?Hi Bullhunter, We have enjoyed a surge of posts, old inactive members returning and new members joining since Pat Mcgee sent out that email to all members some months ago. It seems to me that the summer months always see lower posting probably due to the fact that people are out on vacation and doing chores outside. I have been away from home for three of the last five weeks and have several more weeks to go. Most of my 2009 traveling has seemed to happen in May and June for a variety of reasons. That's my two cents. Pat P 456th FIS :us_flag

It's difficult to "observe" when life beyond the computer monitor has been so busy. But yes summer is mostly the reason for me. At least I would guess my husband taking shrapnel to the knee while mowing the lawn falls under "summer" activities. He had to undergo surgery to remove the foreign object that was sitting on top of his kneecap. Two weeks from now we're going to Little Rock for my brother's wedding... And life goes on...

Now that sounds like it would hurt! How is he doing and how did that happen.

He's doing fine now. How did it happen-- he was mowing the lawn and the mower threw something out. At the time he thought it was a small rock that hit his kneecap. Said it hurt like heck but he finished mowing. After about the fifth day of his knee giving him pain/problems he finally adhered to his wife's advice and saw the doctor. The doctor gave him the option of xray or MRI. Praise God he opted for xrays! To everyone's astonishment the xrays revealed what looked like a piece of wire curled in the shape of a "C" sitting on top of his kneecap. The entry point was barely even noticeable! After getting approved by Tricare, more than 3 weeks after the incident, hubby finally went under the knife. The surgeon told him he would save the shrapnel, but the OR technician threw it out .

School just let out here for the summer in Texas. I've been getting the boat ready for some fun (ugghhhh! - long story), and a few TDY's here and there. I'm leaving next Friday for a week to Ft. Benning to help a few paratrooper students get their first jumps!
Rest assured I frequently troll and even though I may not answer or add something new, I do read it all!
I'm here as always!

We are presently in Gallup, New Mexico. We went to Disneyland for three-days, then Overton, Nevada to visit daughter and family for 4 days, then Santa Cruz, Kalifunny for 3 days so I could conduct a memorial service for my cousin's husband, then to Merced, PRK, visiting our former district representative and his wife. Now we are on our way to Santa Fe, NM and then Taos. From Taos we will turn south and make a gas and potty stop at Clovis AAFES. Then across a whole lot of Texas and back home. So far well over 3k miles and more to come. Lots of windshield time. Fortunately, the Interstate across TX, NM and AZ have been lightly traveled. To-day, as we approached Flagstaff, we began to see lots of Arizona's finest state troopers out on the road. Two or three parked together and lots of trucks stopped in both directions, and a few cars. Pulled in to a rest stop a few miles west of Flagstaff and it was turned in to a truck inspection station. I never saw so many troopers in one place, and they were all busy looking under and in tractors and trailers and making marks on the sheet of paper on their clipboards. About 20 miles east of Flag there were no more. Kept the cruise control right on what the posted speed limit was. Will give a further report on our trip when we are back in Texas.

Ahh Cannon AFB NM, my first assignment as a civilian spouse. That is a long day's drive (and boring) from Clovis back to New Braunfels. Been there done that and bought the t-shirt--my parents still lived at the lake when I was at Cannon. Think of me riding with a toddler who hates car seats on that route That toddler just got his driver's permit this week (man how time flies )

Should be some interesting sights at Cannon now that it's transferred to AFSOC. Driving from Clovis to Alburqurgue (sp) was the first and only time ever this eastern boy had to see the Milky Way stretch from horizon to horizon. One of the most humbling experiences of my life.
