Remember the canvas nose cover for the six? It covered pitot boom, and both front electronics compartments. The idea was great, but when it rained they trapped moisture in electronics compartments and we had all kinds of MA-1 problems. As a trade off, we would run cooling air for 5 min or so before cranking up the power for MA-1 system. We used the covers mostly in winter to help keep ice off. We had to be careful when putting them on/off as it also had a compartment for Angle of Attack (AOA) vane and it was fragile. The six had all sorts of covers/warning flags etc, but many were seldom used. The plastic inlet covers were one example. But even with all the warnings, I often connected with one ot the antenna on bottom such as ILS. Still have a few scars from losing the battle with accessories on six. And burnt fingers from pitot boom/AOA vane when someone left heaters turned on. Lorin
