READ THROUGH ALL THE THREADS HERE FOR UPDATES - LATEST UPDATES AT THE BOTTOM OFFICIAL REUNION INFORMATION UPDATE, 9 Oct 2014 AS ALSO LISTED ON REPLY #15 OF THIS THREAD. CHECK REPLIES AFTER #15 FOR FURTHER UPDATES
OK troops, here is the latest info.
You can now start registering for the 2015 F-106 All Troops Reunion (Oct. 7-11) which is at the Elegante Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
You can call them (719-576-5900 x 1777) to reserve your room (reference F106 All Troops 2015 Reunion); or use the special website for our reunion: www.reseze.net/cassets/mkt/mcmelegante/landing_pages/MCM_Colorado_F106_All_Troops_Reunion_Group.html We have negotiated a price of $79 per night including breakfast. Bobski and I stayed there for 3 nights and visited numerous other hotels and felt like this was the best place based on the hotel itself, the price and the people in charge there. It has been completely renovated and they are offering this rate for 3 days prior to and 3 days after the reunion. You can view their website at Register by sending $15 for the veteran or interested party and $10 for each guest that veteran or interested person brings. Send to: Ken Wigton, 3411 Capitol Way Highland, Mi. 48356. You can make out the check to F-106 reunion. The first person registered at $15 gets a special reunion patch. Below is the itinerary. We would like to collect all monies up front so that we have an exact count and so the committee members won't have to spend their time collecting and tracking monies. We would like to enjoy the reunion along with all of you! We have priced all the tours with a host that is very knowledgeable with the area and very personable. She provides luxury coaches and bottled water, a necessity at that altitude. She does a running commentary as you travel and was a pleasure on the tour that we took. You of course can go on your own if you prefer but we'd like to know ASAP so we can plan. If it is too pricey for anyone I would be willing to take the payment in 4 steps, 1/4 each time. We have used busses in the past and they work very well. When you register please indicate the venues you plan to attend on the bus. As you can see I need counts to determine price and the number of busses. If you plan to go on your own please let me know that too. Also let me know if you will be attending the 2 dinners. Our tentative schedule looks like this: Wednesday October 7th, 2015 Meet and Greet Dinner $30 P/P; and Saturday October 10th Farewell Banquet $40 P/P; at the Elegante Hotel. Below are the bus tours and pricing: Day 1, Oct 8, 2015, Thursday, 9 am - 3:30 pm Garden of the Gods with lunch included, and then tour on your own in Manitou Springs, an old western town full of eclectic shops. Bob and I did this tour and it was very enjoyable. The diversity of shops is great and the town is just a neat old town. Natallia arranges the lunch at Garden of the Gods so that it will be ready when we get there. She will have about 3 choices for us from the menu. This price includes lunch with taxes and gratuity. When we get the choices I will send them to whomever signs up for this tour. Price and minimum # of people__$68/pp, minimum_40 ppl_____ Price if we have 80+ people _$59/pp___ Day 2, Oct 9, 2015, Friday, 9 am-Noon US Air Force Academy. Price is $44/pp and minimum # of people _40____ Price if we have 80+ people is $40/pp____ Natallia does this as a guided tour. We are also working on getting something there that is not available to the general public. This is a tough one with all the budget cuts but is still a possibility. Same day (evening) Tour through Broadmoor and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo area with an after dark visit to Seven Falls (if available). Price and minimum # of people ____we need to wait with this one. Seven Falls is closed now due to flooding in the spring. It should be open by October 2015 and we will price this when we know. Day 3, Oct 10, 2015, Saturday, 9 am - 4 pm Peterson AFB 9AM-1PM then WW II museum 1:15PM- 4PM. 54 pax motor coach is $1280/each for 7 hours. No lunch, museum tickets, or guidance included into this price. This works out to $23.70 PP and I think we'll ask you for $25 PP in case we don't fill every bus. We will have lunch at Peterson and right now they are estimating about $16 PP for a nice buffet which includes tax and gratuity. Day 4, Oct 11, 2015 Sunday. Choice 1- 8 am - 1:15 pm. Cog Railway up to the summit of Pike's Peak at 14,110 ft. Minimum # of people _30 at $80/pp__ Price if we have 80+ people _$75/pp___ Choice 2- 10:30 am - 3:30 pm. Royal Gorge Train. Minimum # of people _40 at $85/pp___ Price if we have 80+ people is $79/pp. So veterans, friends and anyone else interested, please start registering and let us know your interests. I know this is a long time in advance and we have already been planning for about 6 months. If you send your money and have to cancel I will send you a full refund if you notify me before I leave for CS which will probably be October 4th. We have to have our counts before that time so please let me know your intentions promptly. We highly recommend that if you want to take the tours to take the bus with us! It is much more relaxing, more fun to be with everyone on the bus, no worries about traffic or directions! Thanks guys and gals, it is a pleasure serving you. Hi Pat, Yes we do. Ken and I went out to CS for 5 days and scouted out hotels and venues. Looks like we will go with the Elegante Resort. $79/night, includes breakfast! Oct. 7-11. We will be sending out an email next week. Dick Stultz has already designed a logo for us. This is all preliminary info. If you publish anything please say that. We were going to do a survey to get an early head count, but we figure only a small percentage would respond anyway. We're guessing 200-300+..?
On May 27, 2014 Pat wrote: Hi Bob, I checked the historic weather for Oct 7-11 at Colorado Springs. Average temps on Oct 7-11 for past five years have been 60-70 days and 35-45 nights. Gets colder in the last half of the month. The Pacific la Nina current has been the bad weather maker for the past year and the el Nino current is replacing it so weather patterns for the next year or more should be more traditional. www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KCOS/2013/7/1/MonthlyHistory.html
I agree on the survey getting little response this early. Probably better to wait Apr-May 2015 and include possible activities for participation. There’s a lot to see and do and for folks who drive there is beautiful scenery. I believe we’ll get at least 200-225 attendees since we are all getting a little older but we’ll also pick up more west coast alums. Since we had such a great event, no doubt many who were at Dayton in 2013 will come to Colorado Springs in 2015. Facebook F-106 users are a more active communicating crowd than on the F-106 Forum, so that needs to be a channel of communications, too. We have forum members who are also on Facebook.
We had our 456th FIS Reunion there in 2010 and had a great time. I’m looking forward to going back! The Elegante Hotel looks very nice. www.hotelelegante.com/ Pat P.

From Bobski bobski9933@aol.com
Hello troops, This email is an update and a polling for all F106 troops regarding our planning for the 2015 Reunion. Bob Kwiecinski (Bobski) and Ken Wigton have visited Colorado Springs for 5 days and are pleased to tell you that we have selected 2 hotels with one being the favorite right now. We got a terrific offer from the Hotel Elegante which is the frontrunner right now. The Caveat is that in order to get a great deal we have to guarantee them a minimum of $ spent at our meet and greet and banquet meals. They are $25 and $35 respectively. So that's $60 per person. Before we sign the contract we would like to hear from ALL of you. We realize that October 7-11, 2015 is a long way off and that many can't commit that far in advance. However, please respond if your intentions are to come as of now and if you know you can't make it let us know that too. If everyone responds we will figure that maybe 75% or so will end up making it and if that's enough people we will sign the contract. Please realize that it is very important to reply as Bob and Ken will have to pay any shortages from our own pockets. Let us know how many people too. The hotel was bought out less than a year ago and has been refurbished and is very nice. We have negotiated a rate of $79/night that will include breakfast with an omelet and waffle station included. The mattresses are all new Simmons Beautyrest and are very comfortable. The hotel is very clean and has a beautiful atrium and numerous conference, banquet and meeting rooms. It is located near downtown. They provide a free shuttle from the Colorado Springs airport. So in closing PLEASE respond so we can determine approximately how many total guests we will have attending. Also please inform (forward) your AF F-106 friends about this reunion and get them on Bob's master list. You may email me at kwigton@comcast.net or call me at 248-887-6834. I would also suggest that you consider taking a few more days to visit the area. There is so much to see and do there and it is one of the most beautiful spots in the USA. After we determine the attendance we will have more info about our planned activities. Thank you in advance for your support with a response. See you all in 2015! Ken and Bob PS: Dick Stultz is the artist who created and designed our 2015 F106 Reunion logo. He did an absolutely great job! We asked him to show something with a Six banking off into the sunset; to signify that we are aging and nearing the sunset of our lives. Note he also has Pikes Peak in the background. He said if you can find the periscope to not look for the submarine! He will make available various reunion memorabilia such as patches, mugs, shirts etc., if the demand is there. We will definitely give a patch to everyone who registers for the reunion. Thank you Dick!

All F106 Troops, Ken Wigton and I spent 5 days in Colorado Springs attending a Military Reunion Workshop. We have been brainstorming about the itinerary and we are now asking for your input. There are many options and we have listed them below. Remember this will be a 4 day+ reunion (Oct 7-11, 2015). The obvious focus will be of course for us all to reunite, reminisce and to have fun. We intend to have some bussing available for local tours. This is very nice because you don't to worry about driving, traffic, construction, getting lost, etc... BTW, we have signed a contract with the Elegante Hotel in CS, for $79 a night, including a breakfast buffet. It is a very nice hotel/resort. www.hotelelegante.com/ So, please look at the options below and email back to Ken (kwigton@comcast.net ) or me (bobski9933@aol.com ) your votes.
Here are the itinerary options for Colorado Springs so far: Garden of the Gods tour with lunch at the restaurant and a visit to the very large gift shop. About 3 hours. A visit to Manitou Springs with free time to visit shops, businesses and restaurants in this neat old western town. Includes Christmas shop, art, sculptures, native American silver and gold jewelry galleries, clothing boutiques, antique shops, wine tasting rooms and 12 mineral drinking springs. About 3 hours. The above 2 items could be combined into 1 day. Pike's Peak on the Cog Railway. About 5+ hours. The Olympic training Center. About 2 1/2 hours. Cave of the Winds. Time there varies by personal choice, 1 to 3 hours. The Air Force Academy. 3 hours+. (This is a given) Peterson AFB with an F-106 open cockpit look-in and a museum tour. 3hours+. (This is a given) The WW II museum with restorations in progress. 2+ hours Cripple Creek casino trip. The Royal Gorge scenic train. 5 hours. A historical tour through Broadmoor and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo area followed by an after dark visit to Seven Falls. 4 hours. There are of course many other options but the above items can be done on a tour bus with knowledgeable guides. It is a bit pricey that way but she provides nice busses, water to drink and a running commentary of the areas you are driving through. Her prices also include tickets and lunch where applicable. Also note that we have a group of people looking into something "special" at The Academy for us though government money constraints may prevent that from happening. Please forward this email to all troops for feed back. We are looking for 2 answers. (1) Which items do you prefer to see and (2) would you be interested in a tour bus or busses with an extra charge?
Thanks, Ken & Bobski

Thanks for doing this again and again and again for our reunions.

neither one, Pat. I had Cougar photo shop Dick Stultz's design and then I printed out on heavy glossy photo stock, glued to 1/4" plywood and heavily lacquered.... Pastor, Will probably have 5-6 desk/mantle clocks and 3- 4 wall clocks....... Will use the "traditional" hand machined aluminum F-106 on some, looking to obtain some of the Dart Patches to use, and maybe some challenge coins. October 2015 is a long way off, but want to have them done so, if, for some reason, Sandy and I can't make the reunion, that arrangements can be made to get them To Colorado Springs.......

Another 2015 clock, this one designed by my wife Sandy. I wasn't impressed with what she wanted when I started building it about a year ago.. The other day I got the parts out and blew about 1/2 inch of dust off them and decided to finish it... So here it is I LIKE IT..........

Sandy found some more parts for a "Dolphin" (smaller) so looks like another one will get done........ Digging through my stuff I found what surely has to be the last of the Eagle and Flag poster to make into a wall clock....... Well here it is...... see if anyone notices something different about this poster......

You know, that 2015 F-106 Reunion patch that Dick Stultz designed looks pretty nice.
I wonder if Dick or anyone else has thought of getting a Challenge Coin made of it with maybe a reverse side of MOW's F-106 website coin?
PS: Whoa! I've not seen MOW's F-106 main site home page in months. That thing looks awesome! www.f-106deltadart.com/ I almost missed the new comments section at the bottom of the page, that's picking up some good chatter.
I also noticed that the Guest Book page is picking up some people who want to contribute pictures and documents. They leave no email address and I don't know if MOW has those and is answering them. But I see there is a place to leave comments on each Guest Book entry so I presume we could establish contact with that person if they come back looking for a response to their offer of pictures or documents. One of the guests, 91) J. Russell Cole, has a high res photo which he cropped way down to meet the size limit for the Guest Book but wants to know if we want the large file he has of the entire picture. It's a pretty sharp looking pic of a Six flying high over a solid cloud cover.
MOW, give us some advice on this. Maybe we should also put a 2015 Reunion link to the Forum thread on this Guest Book page? Might catch some former Sixers who aren't aware of the Reunion.
Thanks, Pat P.

No, I think they won't get to the Guestbook without first hitting the home page, and it's pretty prominent on the home page now. The coin thing had been discussed before, but haven't heard anything recently. No requests came in for assistance. And for some reason I didn't even get Bob's email the other day on this. I posted this only after getting if from Ross S. I asked Bob if I had been dropped or missed from his mailing list, but he said I was still on it. Not sure why I didn't get it.
