I hope this helps some. I have been having this same problem for a long time. I would get frustrated and leave the board. I just literally found my problem.
If I moused over the thread name, I would get a over and underlined hot link, which when retrieved, gave the 'Not Found' message.
What I found is: Don't click on the thread name, move the mouse off of the thread name into the empty box, then click, then all is well, the desired thread is retrieved.
Whew! Kinda like, don't aim at the target if you want to hit it. Some poor programming at the board level.
I am using a Mac.
Easy fix, aim away from the target. ;D

Interestingly, it works using both methods for me. I do not know if having a Mac has anything to do with it as I have used it, and a PC (PC normally), and have never run into that problem. I'm glad you figured it out though! Most of the time I just hit the top 100 posts, as I've been here so long, but when I do need to find another thread, I've never had to use your method. In any event, :welcome

I've noticed that Not Found issue doesn't appear in the new beta version site.
