Hello everyone, I am still working on this. I have recieved more contacts thanks to you guys. I call the Montana National Guard but do not get called back. I will plant an American Flag there and I would love a fly by by the big sky fellas. I even thought they could take a young growing tree from the site and put it in Montana. This site needs to be recognized, and is a large part of our homes history. I will build a pole, add a flag and would love a 'fly by' from Montana's finest. Maybe a pipe dream, but i think it would be the cool thing to do.

Wow, thank you all so much for the kind comments. So much has happened since my last post. The outpouring of gratitude is unreal. I had no idea that any of this would happen. I am shocked and blessed.
I met Davids family and I brought them to the site. I believe it gave them great closure and peace. It was outstanding to meet them.
Big things start from small things. I just want to say that I did all of this for the sole reason of recognition of this man. I am beside myself and I just did what a thought was natural and right. This man was a great American and a great person. It gives me so much happiness to know his name and to know that his family could walk the ground of their loss. They knew it was somewhere in Canada but had no idea of exactly where until now. They placed an engraved stone at the base of a Spruce tree that could well be 300 years old at the site.
A year had passed and next thing I know, i get a phone call from the ANG from Montana. On the phone was General Livingston and General Walsh. I was astounded to learn that they, and others from the base, were coming to my home town to meet me.
I gave them a tour of the site and my land and there was media there to meet them. They had asked me to take them to a community center, but I took them to Nanton Lancaster Museum. A fantastic museum with a Lancaster night Bomber within and various other aircrafty and history. Outside is the wall where the names of the tens of thousands of our Bomber Command Fallen are written in marble from 1939-1945. Included are American names who flew with us before Dec 7th, 1941.
To my disbelief the ANG presented me with the American Patriot Medal. I was so humbled i cannot describe the Honor. The only non USA citizen to recieve this. I am still in awe. It is on you tube from Global news Calgary.
I did this to bring David Dennings name to light and the moment was for him, not me. I just beieved in my heart that it was something that had to be done and I never expected to be acknowledged for doing whats right. I was awarded for it and I still to this day believed it was a Godsend.
It has expanded my life in many ways, through work, friends and so much more.
I then went to the Air Show in great Falls and was given the VIP treatment. My wife and I were astounded. Hotel room, total access and a breathtaking show, all from the greatest hosts I have ever met.
I sat with Senators, Congressmen and Various Military officers in a VIP tent. My wife had a riot with all of their wives and we even had dinner at General Livingstons home. I bought a sticker that sent chills down my back when i read it. A POW/MIA sticker that stated-For those who have fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know. Everything came full circle.
The people at the base were exceptional. These Men and Women were...outstanding. True role models for kids and grown ups like me. These people are bright, presentable, well spoken, gracious and very respectfull. Everything an American stands for.
I even did 16 chin ups at the Marine tent, i tried for more but could not. At 42 I passed, but nearly soiled my pants for the 16th. I realized that I would rather crap my pants that give up in front of everyone. They gave me a Shirt, signed my Flag and gave me a Semper Fi sticker that is on my beer fridge right now. I chatted with Vietnam Veterans and IOD teams just back from IRAQ. I could have stayed for days.
In closing comments, I am just a Rancher. I work for Agrium making fertilzer and I own a tiny paintball field to help with a little extra income. I am so humbled to meet people like those at the base who have done so much for all.
I have a greater respect for the United States than ever before. I loved you before but love you more if that makes sense. I know it is hard times and the sight of those mobs pulling down the American Flag in Egypt and Libya enraged me. Made me very very angry. They offended me so deeply that I cant explain it and I am a Canadian.
I have a very big American Flag on my Ranch along side the Canadian flag. It is a very nice one, complete with stitched stars. Solar lights under the pole because the Marines told me it must come down at 2000 or it must be illuminated. It is in view of the Ridge where David passed. It will be always be clean and will never touch the ground. It will be replaced with a new one at the slightest sign of wear.
A mob of anyone or anything will never take it down so help me God.
God Bless and may our journey through life be blessed. I remember, many do. I grateful to have the United States of America beside me and so close to our home. Canadians love you because you are family.

I copied this post over from the Candles thread so everyone could see the URLs where Reid was honored.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (NIV) Matthew 7:7
Reid did all three with excellent results for which he was awarded the Montana National Guard Patriot medal.
Worth an Exalt in the karma! Thanks Reid! Pat P.

Thanks, Reid, it is hard to see to type through the tears... The Old Sarge and a song from my Irish Tenors Reid, I have the same feelings as the Old Sarge. Your post today has to be one of our classics. I still have the pictures you sent in 2008 but did not post them because you wanted to contact the family first. Let me know if you want them posted. Thanks Cowboy! Pat P.

What a beautiful clock that was sent on behalf of the Forum. What an amazing and kind gift. One is coming back south for the Old Sarge for that one. Very kind and moving. It is on top of my Beer fridge and the outline of the fighter is so sweet. I did try to phone, but i must have wrote the number in error off my voice mail and they answered 'Ola' in Arizona. I will PM you. As far as the pictures are concerned Pat, I am sure you guys know best. I know that it all is for history and the Alumni. I never asked the Family that specific question. I will call Chris in Helena Montana. I just finished a book the General gave me. It is all notes of the 8th Air Force during WW2. Unreal. I think about flying in an airliner above the clouds and then I think about having an open door with a heated alpaca suit on with body armour. I just cant imagine. I am very grateful to everyone of all the generations that keep us all safe. Thank you all so much

I just re-read this entire thread from the beginning. This is just about as awesome as it gets. There is very little I can say to add to the commitment you have made over the past few years other than, thank you.

It is almost 7 years ago that Reid Moynihan posted his first post about a 106 that went down in Canada, and his efforts to make a memorial to the pilot and to America.... Today is also his birthday..... I believe this is still a good email address- send him greetings from the forum.... For people who came to the forum after this took place, read the posts.. I have added this to the original thread from Reid Moynihan in Aug 2008. Pat P. A two seat F-106B of the MTANG crashed 10 miles south of Rudyard, MT. Lt. Jerry R. Shanahan, MTANG pilot, and Lt Col. Robert G. Rubin, was uninjured, but the second plane's pilot, 2Lt. Daniel Judge, was hospitalized for several days after the incident. A faulty landing gear was thought to have been the cause of the collision. 9 JUNE 1977, F-106A INTERCEPTOR - AIRCRAFT 57-2460 (05). MTANG pilot 1Lt. David L. Denning was killed when his F-106 crashed during a night training mission. F-106A INTERCEPTOR - AIRCRAFT 57-2464 (08). Capt. Paul Rogers ejected from his MTANG F-106 before it crashed near Hays, MT. Pat McGee's FaceBook Reply 2-6-2020Pat J McGee Perfect Darrell Anderson that filed in several holes! Pat P. FaceBook post 2-6-2020:Pat Squared Darrell Anderson and Blair McAnally, great job finding this info! David L. Denning's name reminded me about an inquiry we received on Pat J McGee's F-106 Forum back in 2008 from Alberta Canada ranch owner Reid Moynihan. The link starts on page 1 and you have to select page 2 to see the amazing story conclusion in 2015. This story indicates the strong Brotherhood among F-106ers from active USAF to ANG and Reserves. Thanks, Pat Perry forum.f-106deltadart.com/thread/852/june-9-1977-skyline-ranchPat P Note: FaceBook Convair F-106 Delta Dart Group with 5500 members is a great way to find F-106ers who have pictures, info and stories to share on Pat McGee's F-106 Forum and his F-106 main website.
