Jim, I was on the F-15 IOT&E at Luke in '73 to evaluate the A/C as the follow-on interceptor for ADC. We went to HAC to look at the Hot M/U like the Isreali's had 'cause we didn't like the 'smart machine-dumb man concept'. There were 4 of us enlisted, a maintenance officer, and a pilot. I don't think any of them are members here. Is that what you want?

On Jan 16, 1975, what aircraft set this record The last record for the day went to Peterson, who reached 15,000 meters (49,213 feet) in 1 minute, 17.042 seconds. No, it doesn't have a Hemi. Hint: Streak, as in running across the baseball field naked, is not this baby's game... although, she is naked as you will see. Answer: www.thisdayinaviation.com/16-january-1975/

Answer: www.thisdayinaviation.com/16-january-1975/Pretty awesome records, but isn't it interesting that when "The Man" (Col. Joe Rogers) set his record in the Six it was an UNMODIFIED aircraft? Well, at least not as "tweaked" as the primary aircraft was. P. S. I love that web site!

Mark, all aircraft that are used to set records of any sort are always prepared in some manner, if nothing more than adding a few mice in the tailpipe and cold soaking the refueling truck so that the fuel was super cold to get more in the tanks... Rivet heads are shaved, the al-clad was virtually polished off some F-86s to get a bit more speed out of them..... The only figure that counts is the one that went in the books... Notice the I.O flights suits.......
