Thank you. Next on the list is a large top/bottomed tabbed US made 319th FIS. I have a tab on a 437th FIS, but at $399 it is a bid rich for my blood!

And although not flying the Six at the time, this is for all you who served with the 71st FIS. This designation was used from 1948-50 while at March Field (later AFB)

Nice shadowbox. Update, not only did I acquire a 319th FITS patch but a 319th FIS patch and a large 11th FIS. All to be posted when they arrive.

Bangor Air Defense Sector, Topsham AFS. It was the unit that oversaw the 27th FIS. (inactivated 1 APR 66)

Most Aerospace Defense Command patches are small. Found this larger (4.5"+) that is from the transitional time when Air Defense Command was phased out. Now there is a large version that is basically the old ADC design with the "Aerospace Defense Command" script. This version actually has the orbiting satellites.

Nice patch! Adding a pic on the CONAC which if not mistaken has F-106 ties.

Wow, when was that patch dated. I never heard of that Command, must be way before my time.

Pretty sure it goes back to WWII. I think the F-106 connection was its control of the 14th Air Force, 73rd Air Division and the 4756th Air Defense Wing. The Command stood down in 1968 and I think totally dismantled in the 80's. I know it had direct ties to ADC from 1948-50.

When I was stationed at Mitchel with the 2nd tow target sqdn (TAC 9th Air force) CONAC HQ was at Mitchel and had s--t load of C-119s Assigned to the New York ANG and was used as a troop carrier GP.

I must be really old. I remember going TDY from McGuire AFB to Tyndall AFB in 1960's. I was there from 1964-1967. The old C-123, C-119, and C-124 from Air Guard wore that patch. I have been down with a bad cold all week. Bad cough, fever and the big "D". Starting to feel a little better.
