The lookalike Cargo Airplanes in USAF History. The Tactical airlift C-130 has been in operation/Production since late 50's. The C-133 was short lived Strategic Airlift, and delivered ICBM's. The C-27 was joint USAF and Army project. USAF put them in storage as they had no Mission for them. Lorin

Lorin, the C-133 was used by MAC to haul cargo to Vietnam in the late 60s & 70s. Worked on quite a few when stationed at Kadena 603rd MASSQ.

While at RAF Upper Heyford we had quite a few "Cartoon" drawings made of F-111E. Most ere related to events that occurred. We always had issues when refueling with RAF Tankers. This one was referenced to how far behind the RAF was. Lorin

This was one of best. We had an F-4 from RAF Alconbury, I think, was doing approach and forgot to reset Altimeter and did a great job of landing in farmers field. (The cartoon shows the F-111E as the artist did only F-111E drawings.) The fields around Heyford mostly had large hedges and made finding the plane difficult. The pilot walked to nearby phone box and called local police. After all the jokes, the local police called Upper Heyford SP and directed them to crash site. The recovery was easy as it was still on landing gear. Just used our big wrecker wench (Used to lift F-111E) and it was driven back to base and was repaired and returned to service. But the cartoon shows action on night of crash. I ws operating Simulator and had a "Brick" and had to stop mission as Chief of Safety was flying mission and he was needed at crash site.

This one was for a crew that violated minimum fuel and had to declare an emergency during ORI. Neadless to say, the crew lost certification and had to recertify out of cycle. We had to add several days of missions in sim during our maintenance time (Midnight to 0500). Lorin

Gary, I appreciate your post of this helicopter. It is the same type that evacuated my close friend Raymond Godman to a MASH unit after he was shot by a sniper as his USMC unit was taking Hill 749 in the Korean War in Sep 1952. Raymond was triaged as not expected to live but a fellow marine forced medics to evac him to a MASH unit because he was still alive. After two years in VA rehab he was released as a paraplegic and died in Jan 2019.
I met Raymond in 1964 and we drag raced together in 69-71 after I discharged from USAF. I knew his first wife Jean who died of Cancer and their two adopted kids. Raymond was the toughest and most generous man I ever met. He never let his wheel chair stop him from living life to its fullest. He and his second wife Jane helped me survive cancer in 2004 by constantly keeping in touch with me. They were like my second parents after I had lost both of mine.
Raymond seldom ever talked about Korea but one day, as we were traveling to a drag race, I asked him to tell me the story. One of the things he said was when the helicopter took him and another wounded Marine to the MASH unit and landed, he asked the Medics how his buddy was doing on the other side. They said he didn't make it. We both had tears in our eyes as he told the story.
The TV show MASH provided a lot of humor to a really bad situation. I guess this is why all humor contains elements of truth so we can look back on it and remember the most important people in our lives.

Best guess, accommodations for a share of the terrorists"refugees" Chicom Chomo Joe imported from the Rockpile while abandoning our own. #F---JoeBiden
