Great news!!
A very big thanks to Pat P., and the "Old Sarge" Jim G. for helping spread the word. I know what it's like being a phone-only internet guy, so I understand MOW!
To all the great Sixers on here, I just want to tell you all how proud I am to have be part of your family all these years. Makes an old C-130 guy smile!
Pat M.? Listen to your doctors!! (And thank you for the kind words. Truly.)

Holy cow I'm off the baby mushy food! My throat has improved enough to where I can carefully, slowly and in small portions swallow some regular foods. Tonight they gave me spaghetti with meat sauce and shrimp, salad, mushroom soup, vegetables and I ate it all. Took an hour plus but got it all down, no gagging no drowning. Yahoo.
Yes guys I hear you all - I will follow all docs orders, absolutely.

Wow! Pancakes, mushroom omelet, coffee - what a great breakfast they brought me this Friday morning. And I ate it all with greater ease than I thought I could. So as far as my eating/swallowing abilities go, good progress.
My face is improving too. Damn that didn't sound right, but my right ear and area around my ear going back to the back of my head feels pretty close to normal. Going forward to the front of my face is still tingly numb, but the mend is in-work.
Two walking trips around the entire 13th floor after breakfast. Tired legs followed, but everything seems to be working. Yahoo.
I'm sure it's thanks to all of your blessings, prayers and good wishes things are going well. Thanks guys.

Pat, It's great to hear that everything seems to be working. The wobbly legs will get less wobbly the more you walk but just do it slowly. There is nothing more important than your health, well aside from your family, of course. But you need to take some time for yourself right now so you can go back to be with your family. We are all pulling for you. You are very important to us and we are here for you. Take care, Mike

Hi guys, Well, I've been home a few days now - good to be home - and things are looking pretty good. I can eat good, very little problems swallowing, feeling in my face is getting more and more normal although I think it's beginning to slow down a bit. It might continue to improve, but if it stays as-is I have come to accept it. Got a few more days of meds (8 a day) to take before my doctor follow up, which is when I believe he will put me on my permanent meds regiment. Doing a little light exercise on stationary bike in the living room - he said no straining yet - but enough to get my strength up and the blood circulating. Getting a lot more sleep these days, not like before with 4-5 hours only. Still on sick leave but yes, check-in with work email on occasion but not doing much of anything. Still need to login to do my time card, gov purchase card reconciliation, term server in and login to my classified network so my account status doesn't expire and crap like that. Reminds me, I need to update the boss later today. So, all in all a sigh of relief as I feel things are getting back to normalcy again. Want to thank you all again for your prayers and wishes and cards. I'm confident I wouldn't have got through this as fast as I did without you all. And while they will of course never see this, want to give a shout-out to the Ajou University Hospital in Suwon and especially the International Healthcare Center staff who was extremely helpful in all aspects of my stay. They made it all so easy, hell, they did just about everything for me so I didn't have to do anything - except sign papers. The Osan 51 FW Med Center has a good program with this medical center and the processes work well. Time for my bagel and oatmeal haha.

MOW, when you have all your strength back, we need to tow you out to the trim pad, lash you down, and let you blow some "thunder". Steady as she goes with the healing, no need to get in a rush. The human body is an incredible healing machine when you keep the stress away from it. If anyone/anything pisses you off, just think of that beautiful wife and son and smile. The stress will rapidly melt away!

I just sent this to pat perry and Joe Sylvia and thought I would paste it here as well. I'm doing ok recoverywise, recovery is progressing. I had my checkup late last week and things didn't go quite as expected. I was hoping the doctor would take me off my 8 a-day meds and put me on a regular regiment of what I expect will be 2 at the most, and even one of those maybe being just Aspirin. But, he had enough concerns to keep me on all the meds for another 30 days, 28 actually, and also did another MRI as he was concerned in the health of that one very thin artery running up to my brain (1 of 4). The fact the right side of my face still has some tingly numbness in certain areas and my throat is not yet 100%, maybe 85 or 90, prompted him for the MRI just to check. MRI results showed as he expected the artery did indeed collapse, severe and seal at both it's ends. Scared the crap out of me, but he said not to worry. The brain can get all the blood it needs from the other 3 so no need to be too concerned. Otherwise I feel good, little weak sometimes a bit dizzy, all of which he said the meds do to me. Little dizzy and light headed is ok, but if I feel myself leaning or falling to one side then start to worry. Nothing like that, so not worried. Changed my diet, riding one of those elliptical pedal bike things you sit on and your arms move and stuff. No soda, no canned ice tea - water, decaf coffee, brewed tea that's it. Smaller portions of meals, no junk food, no snacking. SUCKS! I love to eat, but life changing events require life changes haha, but I've dropped weight and still going. Next follow up 4 Apr. I'm hoping that's when he puts me on a regular meds regiment.

Even though they are still "Practicing" they are still the best around. As a recovering patient myself I know how we want the recovery to go faster. Taking pills is what gives us "A better life through modern chemistry". I am completely satisfied with my knee surgery. I am off PT now and just do my own workouts at home. I ride my recumbent exercise bike twice a day for 18-20 minutes. That's not a lot, but for me, almost 73, that's enough. I still have little spurts of pain, but don't take any pills for it, just use ice or heat if it gets more than just a little, All the best to you in your recovery and keep up your doc's orders. Lorin PS The diet restrictions are "for the most part" not written in concrete. My doc says ,mental health is just as important as physical, so if my craving gets too much..do it in moderation. I have lost 20 pounds and now maintaining that weight.
