That is an awful shame. Going to miss him.
Sometimes there are no words, but even though I'm just a Legacy here I'll try. I've long said that you guys were instrumental in helping make me the man I am today with your influence from way back when on, and Jim in particular was a key part of it with Old Sarge wisdom, mentorship and the occasional boot-toe to the ass when needed--in many ways he was a lot like a ten-years-younger version of my grandfather, similar personality and curmudgeonly sense of humor. We are truly diminished, as Jeff Cooper used to say in times like this, by the extinguishing of another of our lights in this ever-darkening world. If I still had contacts with my frat brothers, I'd be calling them to set up a session in flight-sim with Sixes to "fly" the Missing Man for Jim. I'd like to think that in a way, a small part of him will live on in the lives he touched both here and elsewhere as long as we remember him and occasionally stop to ask ourselves "What would The Old Sarge have to say about this?" As the old Irish blessing goes, may he have made it to Heaven half an hour before the Devil knew he had passed. Sarge, we'll miss your Old Fart attitude, your humor, your wisdom and most of all the camaraderie you helped foster in this community.

Damn. So grateful to have been part of his group of friends meaning all of you. Was a great honor to have received one of his clocks as a retirement gift. I will always cherish the chats, the posts, the personal e-mails, and even the disagreements we had. You will be missed old sarge.

FYI, don't know if either saw this but I also flashed the word of Jim's passing out to former 318th Six pilots Bob Crow and Norm Komnick. Bob used to post here occasionally, not sure if he's been by lately though.
Not all of the community is "wired up," so it might be a good idea to let the offline contacts know too.

Bobski is putting together a F-106 Reunion Update with a message about Jim that will go to a thousand Sixers. We'll put a Message on Convair F-106 Delta Dart group that goes to 6000 Sixers. I suggested Bobski wait until the Family put up an obit for JIm's Funeral/Memorial so that we can publish that link for remembrances to the Family.
Thousands of people knew Jim and some will probably comment on his Obit link. He was an amazing man. Here is a link to his last 500 Forum posts of 9304 he posted. forum.f-106deltadart.com/user/33/recent Any user can click on their name and select to see their latest posts up to 500. Pat P.

I was sorry to read of the passing of The Old Sarge. He touched my life as he did so many others in this forum. I think of him every day thanks to the clock he made for me. I know he couldn't make one for every member so I feel kind of special. He never forgot my birthday with an email. I will miss him. I pray for his wife to have the strength to get through this period of grief. Rest in Peace, my friend.

I just saw where the Old Sarge passed away. I hadn't posted on the site for sometime. Jim reached out to me to make sure I was okay. He was one of the kindest man I knew but never met. He always reached out to me on my birthday via email. The act it's self reminded me of something my father said to me before I left for basic training. Once you get to you first base get to know who the Chiefs are, they are the ones who can make things happen. Old Sarge was the essence a true Chief, taking care of his people even after he retired. I will miss his knowledge, wit, and political views.
