The Six was literally covered from stem to stern with maintenance and safety stencil data. Somewhere there HAS to be a T.O. that spells it all out. I've been through the TO library at the NMUSAF and they don't have it.
Anyone know exactly what T.O. I'm looking for, or better yet, have a copy of it?? I'm really getting desperate! Note: I'm not after the basic markings contained in T.O. 1-1-4. I'm after the airframe stencil/safety markings. It would have to be many pages of material.
Thanks!
JH

I imagine that someone knows where to get a paper or PDF version of whatever the TO number is. I'd start at Tinker AFB since they are home plate for T.O.s. Have you asked the F-106 FaceBook group? Only other thing I can suggest is go visit the Museum of the AF at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH and look at their F-106. Those guys are very detailed about their markings. Call their paint shop (probably manned by all civilians) and ask them is they have the marking TOs for the F-106.
Thanks, Pat P.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Unfortunately the NMUSAF doesn't have anything, and they are (by stated, written policy) unwilling to cooperate with anyone related to the model kit industry. Apparently our tax dollars aren't as good as other peoples' tax dollars. Don't get me onto that soap box.
Tinker no longer maintains T.O.s on out of service types, which is as it should be.
I know this thing exists somewhere.

I know this thing exists somewhere. J Suggest that you contact Ralph Robledo at Castle Air Museum, lee Nellist or Lani DuQuette at KI Sawyer Museum for possible help. Not being a modeler (you implied you are) I have a dumbassed question to ask: Why would you want specific wording for fuel sump drain points, pitot/static ports, tailhook safety pin location, angle of attack heater warning, tow bar attach points, lifting sling attach points, wing and nose jack point locations, Trim pad bridle attach points, all the caution decal/stencil info in all 3 landing gear wells, cautions for the RAM, hydraulic, engine oil, lox service and vent, liquid nitrogen service and vent, fast acting door warnings for weapons doors and speed brakes, single point refueling data, caution against using the wrong driver bit on some door fasteners, even a decal specifying what the lubricate is for the mechanical accessories turbine? What would its size be on a 1:72 or even 1:48 scale model? I don't know if the fuel sump drain points are molded into the model, even if they are, so what power magnification would you have to use to read your decal? I have probably forgot 30-40 other possible decals that might be on the aircraft... Don't mean to be insulting, but all of the decals/stencils that were on the Six would clutter your model and actually detract from its appearance. HAVING SAID THAT, Contact Ralph or Lee at the Museums indicated, or a PM here on the forum....

Unable to download - screen displays dark grey background and says "loading 150kb/0.0 kb" and "done" down in bottom left corner. Adobe Reader version is X (10.1.14) MUI

Damn, why didn't I think to check there? We have accumulated more manuals over the years which is great!
Jennings, I have to agree with the Old Sarge. Unless you are building a 1/14 scale or larger F-106, the small stencils are going to be every hard to see. Now, if you want to insert a page in the kit that shows where the various small stencils are located that's fine.
Tell us why this is important to you.
Thanks, Pay P.

Thanks, Pat P.

Yea, it's a 35MB sized file I knew it was BIG, and it might be my server (1.5 on a good day!!!!!!) although I can open smaller ones. I didn't wait long after system said it was "Done". A lot of what Jennings is looking for might there, but it won't spell out what the decal/stencil reads. These were decals applied by Convair at time of manufacture and if a fading memory still serves me right, they might very well be listed in the parts catalog. A lot of the originals disappeared at IRAN........

After 15 minutes, it opened......... Just the panel numbering decals would almost obliterate the wings on a 1:72 Fun to look through the book after 52 years.

Thanks for all the posts guys. Unfortunately T.O. 1F-106A-2-2 doesn't have what I need. I'm not at liberty to say what it's for (not my project), but I need the actual paint shop diagrams that show all the stencils and their placement. It exists somewhere....
I'll go on looking.
Tks!

When I looked at the Six at DTAM, I saw few stencils or decals of any kind, other than the essential ones.
Like the Ejection Seat Triangle, the Spittin' Kitten and some others, but none of the tiny ones.
On the back of each of the Supersonic Tanks, the flat spot has a Spittin' Kitten decal.
Maybe there were some, but I wasn't looking for stencils, I was looking at that Beautiful Six.

Yes, they will identify the Six as 043, with only the tail number as Balls 5.
There were some old 5th FIS Sixers working on it, and they made sure things were done that would keep the original identity.
To the best of my knowledge, it is the only bird in their collection that is not fully marked with the original tail number.
