All F106 Troops, Chuck Peterson is looking for a F106 Control Stick. See his note below. Bobski
I am the owner of an old time grass strip in NC. Jack Hooker of Hooker Harness is building a beer tapper for the airport. I am looking for a 106 control stick head to control the beer flow. If you can help it will entitle you to free beer for life. The airport is Derby Aerodrome in Derby NC. Thanks for your Time. I flew 6's in Duluth and also at George. Bob Watson connected me with you. Thanks. Chuck Peterson. 815 451-0347
Good luck with that parts hunt, Chuck! Pat P.

You can also find actual stick grips by just Googling "fighter jet stick grip". I have one much like the brass one on this site, but it is of an F-100 (my "virgin" fighter). (I was always a bit uncomfortable using the stick grip "mike" button, even after 2500 hours in the "Six". It just didn't make sense!) (We had an ex-Deuce jock transitioning into the Lieutenant Killer (F-100) who managed to pickle off a 2.75 FFAR into some farmer's cow thinking he was hitting the "mike" button on the stick grip.) Hope this helps. Ken Peterson F-106 [1972-1986] 102FW www.ebay.com/itm/F-4-PHANTOM-Brass-Replica-Fighter-Pilot-Control-Stick-Grip-USAF-TAC-F4-Trophy-/141438906587

I’m happy to hear that someone else had trouble with the mike button on the F-106 joystick being the same button as the bomb button on the F-100’s stick!
I was transitioning from the F-106 to the F-100 to go to Vietnam, and was on the Luke AFB bombing range in Arizona. I was carrying a load of BLU-33 light practice bombs which had only a small spotting smoke charge. As I pulled off target at 450 knots and about a 45 degree nose-up, I pressed the “mike button” to call “off target”. Instead of the radio, I heard a little “click” as I dropped another BLU-33 bomb.
I looked at where I was going to see where the little bomb would go. I was headed for Mexico! I don’t know how many miles that little bomb went, but it’s possible that I threw the little bomb all the way to Mexico!
I thought of reporting the confusion of the bomb button in the F-106 with the mike button in the F-100 as an “Operational Hazard” but I was so embarrassed that I didn’t tell anyone… Ken Peterson’s story confirms that someone else had the same problem!
