A belated Thank You, Jim. I have to apologize for not stopping by as often as I used to. You can blame Facebook for that. There is a group that some of you are familiar with that is dedicated to the F-106. I am also a member in two other closed groups there and I am able to stay up to date (sort of) by going to those groups. Also, for being retired, I find I am busier now than when I was working and that was quite a while ago!
Enough excuses. I want to make a real effort to visit here more often because the company is nicer here. Mark O is a regular there so I do know somebody there.
There isn't much to update you about. My condition is that I am about as good as I can be. I'm not 100% with my leg but I will learn to adjust for it. To refresh memories, I got a knee replacement revision in February 2015. I was sent home after three months in the hospital in a wheel chair and a week after the knee surgery. While at home, I mnged to tear the tendon for the knee cap in the same leg as the knee surgery. They went in to repair the tendon. I then was not able to bend the leg for two months so the tendon would heal. I was unable to do rehab on the knee and as a result, I lost some range of motion. Also, the tendon has stretched some so I can't raise the lower left leg straight out. This is something that happens occasionally. But because I am unable to extend the leg, it does not lock while walking unless I kick it out in front of me. I have learned to do his without thinking about it. If I turn suddenly, the leg "unlocks" and I run the risk of falling. I have learned to do that gracefully, too. I fell last Saturday afternoon while walking into the yard of friends for a barbecue. The sidewalk was uneven and it turned my ankle and down I went. No damage was done to me or surrounding yard things. My wife went into OMG mode and I was laughing. I have a brace that I can lock to keep the leg straight and to hopefully keep me vertical. I haven't fallen while wearing it but I haven't gotten into the habit of wearing it. It gets uncomfortable in the hot weather we have been having here so I walk slower than my usual slow. I also use a Rolator to walk distances. When I go to the hospital for appointments, I always use it because everything is at a distance and I would never make it to most of my appointments without it.
Besides all that, my balance is terrible so that contributes to my being a fall risk. The neuropathy in my feet contributes to the balance problem. I have a hearing loss, as most crew chiefs and flight line troops end up with but the two new hearing aids have taken care of that. I was asked for an update so I hope this covers things enough. There is lots more but you don't want to know me that well.
I make no promises, but I will try to get here a little more often. I like it here but usually run out of time.
