Jim, the video pretty much sums up where we are.
The question is where do we go from here? And how do we get there?
We are a nation of laws but we are also a nation of lawyers (politicians who later become lobbyists or worse, media pundits) who believe that "It's all about economics" (what's in it for me).

Actually Pat, the C-17 was not a replacement for the C-130. The USAF, Navy and Marines still buy new C-130J and fly them along with many foreign Military units. The C-130J is a comprehensive update of the Lockheed C-130 J Super Hercules, with new engines, flight deck, and other systems. The fuselage is also extended on C-130J-30 variants. As of February 2018, 400 C-130J aircraft have been delivered to 17 nations.
The C-17 replaced the C-141. MAC, or USAF have two categories of Cargo aircraft. Strategic and Tactical. This is based on missions. C141, C-5 were both Strategic and that basically means long range support aircraft. The C-17 is also considered to be C-141 replacement. The C-130 is a Tactical Transport meaning mostly intra-theater versus Inter-Theater. While the C-17 looks more like C-130 and it is capable of short field take-off and landing in unprepared surfaces. But the structure is only rated for a few unprepared runway flights. We have a Reserve Squadron of C-17 here at WPAFB and they make weekly flights to and from Mid-east to resupply troops. C-130s take the cargo off loaded from C-5/C-17 and deliver it intra-theater to outpost around country. Same thing for Viet Nam. C-130's made the short field delivery's and even did drogue drops using parachutes to drag cargo pallets off aircraft. The C-17 doesn't require a Navigator or Flight Engineer. Modern electronics and Navigation reduces crew to 2 Pilots and loadmaster. Lorin

Jack Bally's 1/3 scale B-17G. One man's Obsession. Took 18 years to build... and it flys!

From Col MRoss Holy crap !!!
I decided to watch a minute or two... or five.
And then I just had to see what was next.
Somewhere around 45 minutes, the anticipation factor wanes, but up to that it was really difficult (for a pilot) to stop it.
There are people who can fly, and then there are PILOTS. This guy is a PILOT !!
MRoss
Pat P: This is one of the most amazing videos I have ever watched (54 minute video - skip the commercials) Similar to the Capt "Sully" Sullenberger landing in the river just after takeoff but Capt Benham was flying a Boeing 777 over 200 miles out of Honolulu when his right engine exploded with 381 souls on board. This is about being in the right place, at the right time, with the right crew, with the training and leadership to get the job done.

This is what happens when you have a society that turns its back on the Golden Rule (I'd personally say turns its back on God, but simple Golden Rule decency is something every rational, well-adjusted adult *should* be able to agree on) and places "MUH FEEWINGS UBER ALLES!" It started with teaching "self-esteem" instead of the three R's in schools and parents teaching "you're a Special Snowflake and it doesn't matter what the rules say because you're Special and Mommy and Daddy will protect you"... I saw it start with my generation in the 1980s and only get exponentially worse with time, and there isn't a day that goes by that I'm not grateful for having been started off a throwback to a better time via Grandpa's Old Sarge wisdom about "self-esteem is EARNED through skill, character and hard work."

So thank you for your kind wordJim, a funny thing came up in that vein... a young lady (two words you don't see together much anymore! LOL) who occasionally assists me with finding things at a local store and I were just discussing that the other day, how just a simple "please/thank you" and generally treating people like fellow human beings can be the difference between "what you see is what we got" versus a deep-dive into the darkest corners of the stockroom trying to find your item.

Something wrong with this out of focus video.... #1 It is not an RF-101 appears to have short pitot boom, nor is it a B model.. Single seat canopy. RF-101 (all models) did NOT have a radome. In place of radar it had a Fairchild KA-2 forward looking camera. (RF-101dock chief Misawa AB 1964-66, RF101 weight and balance tech a/c insp. Tan Son Nuht AB, RVN 1966-67)

Gary, good video on man saving dog attack from Black Bear.
I recently installed a Norton Antivirus Anti-Track on my PC. It tells me how many websites are tracking me on each website I visit and blocks them from getting my data.
When we visit the F-106 Forum we get only 4 websites tracking us. Pat McGee knows about these and allows them to trach statistics about his websites. If we post a URL from another website on the F-106 Forum we get many more websites tracking us as shown in the screen print below.
The only reason I bring this up is to make sure our F-106 Forum members know they are being tracked and may not know it. I have seen as many as 60 tracker blocks for me on some of the URLs that are posted on the F-106 Forum. These trackers are trying to identify users and profile them for sale or sharing with their customers or business affiliates so they can contact you via email or cell phone. Some are hackers that can steal your contact info.
If you visit websites or forums of a political bias (Liberal or Conservative), I recommend that you don't reply to them with your comments. This could paint a "bullseye on you for attacks" from others of the opposite political opinion. If you do choose to reply with comments, use a screen name that is different from your F-106 Forum screen name. This should protect you from identity theft.
Let me know if you have any questions. Protecting our F-106 Forum users is my top priority. Thanks, Pat P.

I found this channel when we cut the cable and installed a local Air HDTV antenna here in the DFW area.
It's called Story TV Channel and carries a lot of stuff you might be interested in watching.
www.storytelevision.com/
It has three button selections at the top of the web page
Where to Watch (put in your zip code and find out what station carries it in your location)
Schedule (tells you what programming is available today)
Daily Themes (a dropdown menu that shows 7 days of themes that repeat every week with new stories) MILITARY & COMBAT MONDAYS
TECH & INNOVATION TUESDAYS
WORLD EVENTS WEDNESDAYS
AMERICAN HISTORY THURSDAYS
MODERN MARVELS FRIDAYS
UNEXPLAINED PHENOMENA SATURDAYS
BIOGRAPHY SUNDAYS
I have started watching it every day and only alternating to other channels when necessary. I am a history buff and anything to do with the Daily Themes that shows documentary programming is interesting to me. I hope you find some interest in this in your location. Thanks, Pat P.

Yesterday June13, 2022 it was Military & Combat Monday. The Story Television Channel ran a series of 5 documentaries (in the morning and evening) on the evolution of Terrorism and the evolution of the Global War on Terrorism which started in Jan 1991 and continues today.
Each story had its own title and covered the entire history of each Jihadist group as they evolved. And the roles of six different U.S. Presidents and the many European Leaders involved in decision making and responding to Terrorist events. It was fascinating to rewatch the video coverage that has happened over the past 31 years and the leadership decisions made (some successful/some not).
I'm trying to find out if Story Television plans to run the series again in the future. Or has DVDs of the series. Thanks, Pat P.
