I was fortunate to work on F-106, F-102, and C-130 aircraft during 4 years in USAF in CA, Okinawa, Thailand and Vietnam. Never got a ride in a Six or a Deuce but flew a lot in the Herky Birds (Blind Bat ships). All great aircraft! Great memories! We had a 456th FIS Reunion at Dayton, OH in 2005 and I saw one of the AC-130 Spectre gunships we had at Ubon RTAFB Thailand named Azrael Angel of Death. During the Gulf War that bird was reactivated and later returned to the Museum of the USAF. Pat P.

RE: The new J-model gunship video. Looking at the pic of the crew chiefs cleaning the windscreens reminded me of my CC days on tankers. In my BFE (Before Flight Engineer) days as a KC-135 FCC, I was TDY to March ARB, and my assistant CC, and I were cleaning windows like that. Like we ALWAYS did. Some local CMSgt drove up, ripped us a new one, and told us to ask for a stand from AGE. We waited until he was out of sight, then cleaned our windows like we ALWAYS did!

Yep, I recall my days & nights as the Squadron Production Superintendent (Mike-3) at McChord AFB, and having to stop and caution young troops on some safety issue. Its all good until you get injured. One day about 1974 ay Griffiss AFB (SAC) my crew was working the phase dock on a KC-135. We had pulled the #1 engine for a cracked pylon air supply duck. There was none in supply and the contacted the manufacture to make one. This bird was going to be grounded for a long time. The full Col. our DCM came into the hanger and climbed up on the rail of the 4100 engine removal trailer to get a close look at the cracked duck we found. Two of my airman pointed him out to me and said, "That was not safe, he was comitting a DSV (Detected Safety Violation) and you would not let us get away with that, so what you going to do." Well, I was put on the spot, so I walked up to the DCM and asked him to get down. He snapped at me that he would when he was ready. I replied, "You are not safe and comitting a DSV, I'll be happy to get you a maintenance stand." He repeated himself and then I said, "Sir my airman are watching and if you do not get down Sir I will have to write you up on a DSV." He said, "Go ahead." So I walked over to the dock office and pulled out a safety form and started writing him up. I turned it in to my supervisor and he said, "Sarge you sure you wand to send this forward it goes to QC (Quality Control Office) and that office works for the DCM. I said send it, he was wrong and I don't care if he is a Bird Col our our DCM. I never heard a word back on it. like I said, Its all good until you get injured. Only takes a slip or loss of balance.

Just as we were getting into a conversation on woodcraft tools and workmanship my buddy sent me this. I don't think I have the patience to do this...

The same buddy sent me this video on a Barn Find detailing of a $1M car.
Makes me wonder why this car collector bought all these rare expensive cars and didn't bother to buy car covers for them.

Fantastic photography with the drone. Above, under, and through the planes. Unreal.
Here is a tour of the National Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH that was filmed with a camera drone. The presentation comes forth as a "Flyby" and certainly enhances the dynamics of the presentation. Although at about the 4:40 mark the drone accidentally just catches a wire, no damage was done to any aircraft or drone. Some pretty nifty drone flying overall. Sound up and enjoy this one. Extremely well done.

#2 old sarge jay. Jay, I hadn't noticed that. It slipped past me. The latest thing is the use of the National Star in a subdued color. No longer the red, white and blue version. See the pic of the F-22 Raptor. Thanks, Pat P.

489? Jim, what are you counting down?
Thank you Lee Greenwood for writing this great song! That and "Remember When" by Alan Jackson are played at every All F-106 Reunion. (skip the commercial up front)

487........ I have 487 posts left to hit 9,000.........Hopefully, I'll hit 86 years of age before that..... Seems like I have been with the McGeep since about 2 days after he FIRST established "Pat's World", long before 2004...... Someplace in here is my very first posting to Pat's World, mistyping and p-poor grammar...... Perhaps, it will be time for me to retire at the 9,000 mark....I still have a few "Remember Whens". But my old Taxi and Run-up cards for the P(F)-51D, T-33, F-86F, F-94C, F/TF-102, F-106A/B, F-100D, T-37, T-38/F-5, like me, have grown old and not of much use anymore. I still don't wet the bed -yet, I remember how to tie my shoes (even though I don't own any shoes with laces)and walk 100 feet without a cane- providing I don't under estimate the distance, or the time it might take to get there. I look back to the time (15 July 1952) when I enlisted until today, and wonder how to hell did I do so much in 68 years.... I read back through some of my earliest posts in here and wonder why someone hasn't shouted BULSCHMITT. Then I laugh and say to myself- " Self, I wouldn't believe it either- But I was with you- remember when?" And the stories come alive with names and faces- sometimes even specific dates.......The OLD Sarge
