Well, I have a friend on another board who was a Development Engineer on the early F-35s... Distributed Aperture System DOES give 360-degree optical coverage fed into the onboard computers (and some of those apertures are right nasty buggers to get installed according to him), and while I'm not sure about all of it a lot DOES jive with the technicals I've read on the AAQ-37 system--and we know that the kind of data-link between aircraft they show has already been done on F-22 and is being back-fitted to C/D/E and export Eagles. In THEORY, if you could cram EODAS into an F-15 and hang a couple air-launched mods of the latest Aegis/Standard off it, you could have a boost-phase Ballistic Missile Killer... (though in THEORY if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle) I don't know if it lives up to all the hype, but I do know that on the "white paper" level it is a very impressive system.
Funny thing is, the board I know him through is one devoted to "speculative" scale modeling, and we were working on figuring out how to back-fit EODAS into a hotrodded Strike Eagle and a Pave Low...
