To-day is VJ Day.
On 2 September 1945, on the forward deck of the U.S.S. Missouri, by Turret #2, representatives of the Empire of Japan signed papers Unconditionally Surrendering to the Allied Forces, headed by the United States and accepted by General of the Armies Douglas MacArthur.
World War Two was over.
Some estimate that nearly 80 million were killed and untold numbers wounded during the war.
Yes, I do remember that day, as San Francisco was one big celebration.

Jim,
He made a comment about the NSA (puzzle-palace) changing after McNamara got in.

Jim, He made a comment about the NSA (puzzle-palace) changing after McNamara got in. Please explain of what value this bit of trivia might have, that would induce a long time friend of the Pastors to analyze what he might have meant......

The vast majority of us that were NCOs in the USAFFORDMOCO saw the basic demilitarization of the Air Force...... You seem to be like a scavenger of useless trivia and one who belittles himself by trying to impress others......

Jim,
I'm not trying to impress people: I was just curious what he meant!

Jim, I'm not trying to impress people: I was just curious what he meant! OK, I'll help you out a bit.... He instituted time studies for just about every task and hell to pay if it took more time. You signed out of the shop and onto the job, signed off the job and back into the shop. Manpower availability began to be controlled like we were on an assembly line doing repetitious mundane tasks. Time accounting, job codes, blah, blah to infinity.... He forgot the Air Force was not a money making operation and that a/c OR status was not the same thing as increasing inventory every 2-3 minutes. He was reputed to have hemorrhoids, but that didn't keep him from being a perfect anal opening........

Okay, so your position is that he treated the organization like it was a corporation and relegated brilliant minds to mundane tasks that did not matter?

When I heard the term puzzle-palace, I was confused and did a search: Immediately a bunch of stuff referring to the NSA came up. As a result I thought he was referring to the NSA
