Over the past year or so, we have lost some of our members or their wives.
This is not a good time of year for those you have suffered loss, as the holidays tend to make them remember too much of those last days together.
It can often lead to depression or physical problems.
I won't list the widows and widowers, as you can look them all up on this page.
I do ask you to pray for them, especially during the Holiday Season.
Thanksgiving will be hard for all of them, but Christmas will be worse.
I got a note from Marsha Stevens, telling me how hard it is for her this year to face the holidays.
I'm sure all the others would say the same thing.
Thanks for praying for all our widows and widowers, asking the Lord to give them a measure of Joy and Peace, even though they don't have their mates to share the Joy and Peace.
You might drop a note to them, as well. Just to let them know you are thinking of them, and praying for them.

Our daughter, Christine, who lives in Hot Springs, Arkansas, fell a couple of days ago, and hurt her head.
While in hospital, her Liver shut-down and is not functioning.
So, we are headed for Hot Springs.
We don't know for certain what is going on, as people at hospitals won't tell you much over the phone, but it doesn't sound good.
Would you please pray for us as we travel and for the doctors to have wisdom in treating her, if anything can be done.
Thank You
Jim Too

Since some of you fine folks are inquiring, I will give an update on our daughter's condition.
She has irreversible Liver failure, which is not a good thing.
Matter of fact, it puts lots of toxins in the body, and they are next to impossible to flush out.
She, for many years has abused prescription drugs and alcohol
The alcohol is the primary cause of the Liver failure.
De and I talked to her Internal Medicine doctor to-day at the hospital.
He gave us the whole picture, which we pretty much knew, and it is very grim.
So grim, in fact, that a DNR order is on her chart, and she will likely be moved to Hospice this week.
There you have it in a nutshell.
De and I are fully accepting of the situation, and agreed to the DNR order.
Even if they were to get some of the toxins out of her body, her Liver will not recover, and, well, that is what will eventually stop her heart from beating.
And, she has pneumonia, for which she is being treated.
At this point the hospital is doing what they can to keep her comfortable, and when she goes to hospice it will be the same.
Our other three daughters were here to see her from Friday evening until Noon Saturday, when they all headed back to their homes and families.
At this point we don't know when we are heading back home, but probably not going to stay very much longer.
Sounds cruel, maybe, but there is nothing we can do, as it is all in the Lord's hands and it is up to him when He takes her.
She is a ward of the state of Arkansas, so not much we can do as far as the legal stuff is concerned.
Is it hard?
Much harder than I would like, and nothing I would recommend anyone have to go through.
But, we are fully trusting the Lord and waiting on His perfect timing.
If you have any personal questions, PM, or send me an e-mail if you have my address, and I will answer as soon as possible.
Thank you all for your prayers.

Our daughter Christine, who is 56, has been in hospital for the past 12 days with Liver Failure, and the complications of that condition.
The doctors are in agreement that this is irreversible, and will continue to get worse.
The toxin levels in her body continue to increase, and even with some medications the ammonia level has increased.
To-day was a very stressful, and sad day for De and I, as we met with various people about Chris' condition.
Because of her condition, as the doctor stated "grim", we have made one of the hardest choices any parent will ever make.
She has been put in DNR status, and is being moved to Hospice Care this evening.
We know that the Lord can work a miracle, if it is His will, but short of that, it is just a matter of time before her soul wends it's way to Glory.
Thank you for your prayers and please pray for De and I, that the Lord would lift the stress, give us His comfort and His peace during this time.
We are not sure when we will be heading home to New Braunfels, but not too many days.
We are not angry at anyone, or anything, but very sad to see our daughter in the last stages of her Earthly life.
We are fully trusting the Lord Jesus in this and pray for His Divine Will to be done.
Jim & De

Below is a letter the Village Missions Emeritus Director sent out to a large list of people.
I wanted to share it with my friends and fellow Patriot Warriors on our Six Forum.
Jim Too ------------------------------------
To Those Who Pray and Give So That We Can Still Go,
The story below is painfully true and still unfolding as we send this to you. Your prayers will help a great deal.
“Are her parents coming?”
“Yes,” the nurse said to the trauma doctor. “They are driving and should get here in a few hours.”
“As soon as they arrive, notify me. I want to meet with them immediately.”
His patient was 56 year old Christine. She had been rushed to the hospital after she had taken a fall and seriously injured her head. The lady who was her friend had found an empty bottle of Vodka in her room and gone out to look for her. She had called her parents. They had jumped in the car for the ten hour drive to be at their daughter’s side.
The doctor saw deep concern written all over their faces when he met with them. His news would not be good. In fact what he was about to tell them would tear their hearts apart. He was as gentle as possible but direct as he revealed the horrible truth to them. He had done this before but never could he get used to it.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “This is irreversible.”
“You mean…”
“Yes”.
De, the Mother, began to cry softly. Tears flooded Jim her Father’s eyes.
“She has complete live failure. Toxicity has settled in her brain. Dementia has set in. Her kidneys are not doing well.”
Things had not always been this way. In her early teen years Christine had come to know Jesus Christ, held Bible studies. One of the girls she witnessed to is now a believer herself.
But, when a junior in high school, she got seriously involved with a man who was bad news, the worst kind of all. They say “love is blind”. There is truth in that. She rejected the standards of the home she had grown up in; left her parents, three sisters and a brother to move in with her lover.
From then on it was liquor; soon drugs entered the picture. Marriage DID come, but so did divorce. For months, even years no one in the family would know where they were. They would disappear on purpose. Was it bills? Enemies? Something else? They would never know.
In time Christine even alienated herself from her sisters and brother. The two middle ones did keep some contact with her through emails and phone calls as she allowed. Now she was dying. Her three sisters flew in and were able to spend the weekend with her. In fact they got there before her parents. Her brother didn’t come. “Dad, I’m sorry. I hope you all understand.”
The girls laughed and cried together as reconciliation took place. Then they had to leave. They had jobs and needed to get back. It will be the last time they will see each other down here.
The doctor talked with Jim and De about Hospice which has an area on the fifth floor of the hospital. Now that she is divorced her parents are the next of kin.
“Jack”, (silence), “signing that paper was the hardest thing I have ever done. At eight o’clock yesterday evening they moved her there. From here on out, (another silence), they will keep our Christine as comfortable as possible. No more life supports. We visited with her today. She seems okay.”
Jim, De, Norma and I, are old friends. We served in Village Missions together for many years. When I got the email telling what had happened I did what most of you would do; an email would not do. I had to call. I needed to hear his voice; know they were okay. Pray with them .
The last words of his message to everyone about what is going on reveal the heart and character of this couple.
“We are not angry at anyone, or anything, but very sad to see our daughter in the last stages of her Earthly life.
We are fully trusting the Lord Jesus in this and pray for His Divine Will to be done.”
Thank you for reading this. Thank you too for your prayers as things wind down.
In His love,
Jack & Norma

It is time for me to send out an update on Christine.
She is currently at Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs.
Her status has not changed, but she is slowly deteriorating.
The Liver failure is irreversible, and her other organs, those associated with the Liver, are being affected by the Liver failure.
She keeps getting more jaundiced and the toxin associated Dementia has increased.
Her Vital Signs have been fairly stable.
There is a possibility she may be moved to a Long-Term Care facility in Hot Springs, but no one knows for certain if or when.
She is receiving excellent care from the doctors, nurses and other staff at Hospice.
We are in daily contact with the staff at Hospice, and get full-reports on Chris.
We know her prognosis has not changed, she is terminal.
That is pretty hard for De and I to take, but we know that our Lord is in control and that Chris is in His Loving Hands, and when the final breath is taken, she will be in His presence and we will see her again when we too are ushered in to His presence.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Chris, for De and I, and the rest of our family.
Jim & De

Time for an update on our daughter Christine.
Chris was moved to a nursing home in Hot Springs this morning.
Seems that under Medicaid rules you only have so many days allowed in hospice, then have to be transferred to a long-term care facility, i.e. nursing home.
This whole ordeal has been a real test for us, the whole family, as we know Chris is terminal, and all we can do is wait.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
Jim and De

Along with their daughter' conditions, Jim and De now have the following: Yes Jim got them Monday morning he was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. Collapsed at home called ambulance took him to ER then admitted to hospital, Wednesday evening admitted to ICU. With his pulmonary fibrosis it is difficult to treat the pneumonia. He us on ventilator to help breath, slowly decreasing amount to help him breathe on his own. Things are just day to day . Did get the patches on Tuesday brought them to hospital and he was so happy to get them, so he did see them before being sedated on Wednesday. He was so pleased to get them and said 'that was so nice of him'. He is heavily medicated and sedated so we just sit by his bedside and pray. Daughter, Sara, who lives in Austin here with me, son, Jim ,lives in Colorado came yesterday and our two daughters from Nevada flying in today. Sorry this is so long Thanks again De for Jim

I met Pastor Jim here on the forum in July of 2007 and then with emails until 2008 when Sandy and I were on our way back to AZ from Florida and we were the guests of MA-1 MArv. Marv took us to met Pastor Jim for a fish dinner someplace in San Antonio. As was my practice then, whenever Sandy and I would meet a sixer in our travels, after we got home, the sixer would get a clock in the mail, Jim got his in that manner. A couple of years later, Pastor Jim and De were on their way home from visiting with friends in Nevada and spent some time as our house guests. Another couple of years went by and as we were traveling I-10 to Florida, we had the opportunity to meet with Jim and De for lunch at a restaurant just off the interstate. A wonderful break in traveling was had. Emails and phone calls filled the ensuing years. He became a treasured friend in all ways. Ar dheas Dé go raibh a anam. Time for us to give Jim the sign saying he is cleared to taxi..... The Old Sarge.
