One thing I have always thought was a very distinctive F-106 symbol is the patch, specifically the red with white outline F-106 text. Would a red with white bordered text F-106 look right as a replacement for the ADC text on side 2? I will throw one together later for a visual (at work now).

thanks Jim... UNITED STATES AIR FORCE second choice for the backside Putting back the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, rather DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE on the backside would make it exactly like my initial suggestion, making it the same as the 456th coin AND saving me from making a new mold. Just need the front mold then, which was my original plan. Is UNITED STATES AIR FORCE better than DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE? YES

I believe the originals (CONVAIR) had about 10-15 degree tilt to the right and the planes were black

Oh, #21. Very cool, and the website is listed on the bottom anyway.
P.S. I thought the tilt was correct. Thanks.

I like the idea of something about the Century Series Fighters, but not sure that's the right one. Have to think about that more. Agreed. It sounds cool, but if I had to choose, I'd vote to leave it off this coin.

Some patches had the F-106 tilted some did not. The one I posted was from our 87th time during late 70's early 90's. No idea what the source was, but everyone wore them. Ones we had in the 318th Det 1 were tilted. I like the tilt, but I'm not getting a warm fuzzy anyone thinks having it on the coin is a good idea. I think the ADC will remain. I will still do up a PS sample later and see what it looks like.
Century Series stuff will not go on.

Okay, I like the one in Reply 22. It looks less cluttered than in 21. There are still three "F-106 Delta Dart" references, though. Maybe change the words on the upper half to "THE ULTIMATE INTERCEPTOR". For the other side, I love reply 33. I agree that you shouldn't make something that requires a lot of new stuff if possible. I hope my thoughts on this are in line with your plans.
I knew there were a lot of patch collectors but who is going to pay $125 for a patch? I know, there is someone out there who will have to have it and is able to spend good money on it. However, that someone is not me.

the tilt adds another dimension, I like it, it gives a bit of diversion for what's getting very classy

The 'Six' is generally regarded by those who flew her and took care of her myriad complexities as one of the most aesthetically beautiful aircraft designs ever to come off a drafting board; this website intends to serve as a future focal point for all who regard the "Sexy Six" as the 'Class of the Century Series' fighters.
this is where i got the phrase ....

Yup, I made those with the tilt, as I will any future ones I make. I just pulled a bad sample to display above.

It's still officially the DAF, ask any DAF civilian but the department is still referred to as the USAF. DAF of the USofA s what's on the old logo... the one we know and love, which is why with the 456th coin it reads as it does.
