Just back from a 10 day road trip with no computers or cell phones. Pat P. Here's a big update on the Sep 11-14, 2013 Dayton F-106 Reunion from Bobski... Hello F106 Troops, (Attendees List & event headcounts attached below) The 2013 F106 Reunion is getting closer and hopefully this update finds you in good health and making your preparations. Here’s our June 19, update. I am including the latest signed up roster of attendees file attached. Please check it out to make sure you are signed up with us, and also that your event selection is correct. Call up Ken Wigton if you have not registered yet, to register call Ken at: 248-887-6834. Looking at the Hope Hotel list of registered rooms shows we have 94 of the 105 block of reserved rooms now reserved. Our committee recommends for you to reserve your room ASAP. The Fairborn/Dayton area hotels fill up by the end of summer. Don't get left out of a great reunion!! Here’s some important information to keep in mind: 1. The Air Force Museum will still be honoring our two Restoration Tours on Sep. 13. There will be no additional tours due to the sequester budget limitations. The first 100 people who signed up for the tour are on the list. We have a standby list also in the case anyone cannot make it. If you don't really care to go on the tour please let me know and we can move up the next person. I will email the restoration tour list in a separate email shortly. 2. The attendance count and monetary collection for the Meet and Greet and the Saturday night Banquet are a great concern for us. a. We are assuming that if you signed up for the Meet and Greet (M&G) that you will be eating at the buffet we have reserved. We have to turn in the head count the Friday before. We will collect the $21/person (includes gratuities) for the M&G meal that night (Wed). Please pay by cash! There is an ATM machine in the Hope Hotel lobby. Hope Salad w/ Ranch & Italian 4 oz Chicken Parmesan Meat Lasagna Garlic Mashed Potatoes Dinner Roll & Butter Apple Pie & Chocolate Cake Coffee / Tea / Decafb. For the Saturday night Banquet we have to turn in the head count and your meat selection at the M&G. We will also be collecting $29 person/person (includes gratuities) for the Banquet at the M&G. Please pay by cash! Hope Salad w/Ranch & Italian 6 oz Chicken Supreme 6 oz Grilled Salmon 6 oz Filet Mignon Roasted Red Skin Potatoes Chef's Choice Vegetable Dinner Roll & Butter Assorted Desserts Coffee / Tea / Decaf3. Another major challenge we are working on is transportation to/from the events. We will probably provide 2 buses for the “F106 Lookin,” and the 2 Restoration tours to/from the Hope Hotel and the Air Force Museum. Alternatives are being researched due the high cost. Looks like we will have to charge some amount per person. We will need a good headcount for this. Another thought is to car pool. Stay tuned… 4. The Dairy Farm Picnic on the Thursday will be each person paying for their own lunch ($15.00). This should be a lot of fun. We will have a reserved F106 section, tour the dairy, watch cheese and ice cream being made, and a great picnic meal. 5. We are keeping costs to a minimum. Any leftover monies will be reported and we will vote on what to do with it. (donate, reserve some for next reunion) If you have any concerns let me know ASAP, as we will be having a reunion committee meeting on July 10. Aim High! Well, the Old Sarge has done it again. He has created 7 new clocks for the F-106 Reunion at Dayton. Two of the flight of four desk or mantle clocks have been designated by the Old Sarge, himself, for recognition of two special individuals. You'll have to attend the Reunion to find out who receives them. The remaining two of four and the 3 special clocks will allow the reunion committee to determine how they will be delivered. Maybe, raffles, door prizes, individual awards of merit, special recognition, etc. There are more craft pieces that have been donated for the same consideration. Here are the 4 clocks mounted on what has become sort of a "Old Sarge" standard - a walnut delta triangle with the T-6 aluminum F-106 silhouette and a small clock mounted in the 106. Of the three larger special clocks, one is for a desk or mantle made with a unique piece of "Bear Bruhn" walnut with a larger 106 silhouette and a larger gold clock in the 106. Two others are small (around 8 x 10 inch) wall clocks with the delta triangle backed with blue stained glass (clouds and sky) with a 106 mounted on the glass and a clock mounted in the walnut. Note that two of the three special clocks are made from pieces of walnut that had too much "character" to cut small into smaller perfect pieces. The Old Sarge is believes that some pieces of fine wood are like humans and should never have to be ashamed of their life-earned battle scars. And here's the whole set. Thanks Jim, you done good... again! Pat P.

When we stopped in Payson, I had the privilege of seeing all of these clocks, and more.
Jim wasn't quite done with them, but almost.
Every one of them is a collectors item to be cherished by whomever ends up with them.
The ones with the stained glass are absolutely gorgeous.
Jim, you did a marvelous job.
I also got to look at some of the fine wood "Bear" gave to Jim for clocks.
One very large piece is marvelous in its texture and colour.
I know when that wood is made in to clocks, it will be transformed in to Works of Art.

A few days ago, Bobski brought Sean Tracy of the Veterans Project to our attention. Sean is building some F-106 models for the Reunion in Dayton. He is running out of money to continue the Veterans Project and has appealed to the public through the news for donations to continue. A friend of Tracy's wrote a Press Release which is attached below. If you have a few bucks to send his way for the Veterans Project, you can reach him at www.theveteransproject.wordpress.com or directly at seanptracy@comcast.net Here's the Press Release: Attachment DeletedThanks, Pat P.

Update from Bob Kwiecinski 10 Jul 2013Dear F106 Troops, Well it’s getting closer to having our reunion come to fruition. Our reunion committee met on July 10 at Bob Kwiecinski’s house and 3 of the members teleconferenced in. The committee solidified our reunion plans and also decided on the transportation costs and logistics. Please read below some of the major items you all should be aware of. (see revised Itinerary file also) - You may mail your meal and transportation costs to Ken Wigton Ken’s mail address is: 3411 Capitol Way Highland, MI 48356 before August 15. Please do not mail anything to him after that date. You may also pay at the registration/greeting table at the reunion. We would like to have everything paid by the Meet and Greet (Sept. 11). You may pay up front and that the total is (per person) $10 registration, $21 meet and greet, $29 banquet and $15 bus for a total of $75 for everything or break out anything you may not attend. Also deduct the $10 registration fee if you have already paid making the total $65/person. It would be a convenience for the attendees and the committee if troops cared to pay up front. We have contracts with the hotel for the meals and a contract with the bus company so they're done deals.
- The cost for the Meet and Greet is $21/person (cash bar). This includes the catered buffet at 6 PM.
- The cost for the Farewell Banquet is $29/person (cash bar).
- For the Dairy Farm picnic you pay there ($16). We have a very nice luncheon planned.
- Bus transportation (we have 2 busses that will have to make 2 trips):
- WPAFB said it is mandatory for everyone on the Restoration Tour to take the bus from the AF Museum to the Restoration Area. So everyone on this tour will pay $15. This will also cover your transportation for any of the other events.
- Everyone using any portion of the bus transportation will pay a onetime $15/person. This will cover bus transportation to any or all of the events.
- Keep in mind taking the bus will make it very convenient for you. For example there is construction along the way to the dairy farm (11 miles), traffic, and you can visit while riding! The bus is a sensible option and we also think quite reasonable.
- The buses will be doing the following schedules:
- Dairy Farm: To/From Hope Hotel, Thursday
- Restoration/787 Tour: To/From Hope Hotel and AF Museum, Friday
- Shopping Tour, Saturday
Our committee believes we have come up with a cost structure that is comprehensive and reasonable. If you have any suggestions let us know! Bob Kwiecinski bobski9933@aol.com(734)429-0772 Ken Wigton kwigton@comcast.net(248)887-6834 Aim High, Your 2013 F106 Reunion Committee

From bobski--- ob, You may be able to relate to the below photo of the Air Force first MA-1A class of 58 that graduated from Hughes Aircraft L.A. Would appreciate if you know the current status of the African American MSgt Duncan in the photo that was a part of the test program group to be assigned to Edwards. During my days at Duluth 61-65 there was a A.A. MA-1A Msgt assigned only for a short period, I believe he was reassigned to Iceland under a classified assignment due to the Icelandic Government restriction for the race to be assigned to their country. Don't know his background or career progression other than Duluth. Frank D. said he remembers such an individual as a MA-1A flight chief but don't think he is the same person. Thanks for any assistance you may have in your huge contact base of former MA-1ers during your time. I know of only 4 A.A. pilots that flew the Six (Bell, Anderson, Stewart & Smith), Bell will be at the reunion. This from Ted Schmitz, aka CMDR. FORT O' Weeenie: Hi Jim, A few of the faces look familiar but I can’t put any names with them. I was in the last class at Hughes, graduated in Oct 1960. Almost didn’t get to go because I went to MG-10 factory school in 57. Cheers, The Old MA-1 Weenie

32 Days to Dayton All F-106 Reunion! This just in from Bobski - Pat P. All F106 Troops, I have a friend who made 16 F106 patches for our reunion. They are 7" wide and very high quality workmanship. She is asking $11 apiece for them. They will be for sale at the reunion registration table. Here's a photo of the variety of borders: We will also have a Military Merchandise Vendor at the reunion. I met David Gray, owner of the "Yankee Air Pirate" at 2 recent VFW National Conventions. Coincidentally, he is F106 associated! He was in TAC at Langley and did some feasibility studies with the F106. He will bring a nice assortment of patches, hats, pins and more for sale each evening of the reunion. Oh, and yes he has registered with us to join in the events! We also will have a book signing table with Chuck Lehman, author of "Angels Three Six." Bobski
