And here's another on from Bobski... Hello all F106 troops, Hope you're all in good health. We're starting to get some people signed up which is good. I thought I would answer a couple questions that have come up: 1. The reunion is open to anyone ever associated with the F106: Pilots, maintenance, OPS, any AFSC associated with the F106, ALL F106 Bases (25), detachments, TDY's etc... It should be fun now at our ripe old ages to get together to tell stories and "fraternize" when maybe we didn't or couldn't when we were all serving together! 2. You need to sign up for which events you wish to participate in. Contact Zig Stancavage at (586)840-5571 to register, email: [email protected] Those events we need to know if you will be attending are: Meet & Greet (Wed.) The Kickoff! Lunchtime Picnic catered (Thurs) Best homemade ice cream in Ohio! Restoration/Presidential/F106 Tours (Fri) limited to first 100. Golf (Sat) 9 holes on WPAFB Shopping tour (Sat) Farewell Dinner (Sat) There are also some other activities in the planning stages. The WPAFB area is very well suited to handle military reunions. There will be plenty of time to do your own gatherings, especially in the Hope Hotel Hospitality Room, which is huge and we have it 24/7. 3. We will have video capabilities in the Hope Hotel Hospitality Room for computer, DVD, CD and WIFI presentations. We will have time for those to come up and speak or tell any stories. Bruce Gordon, is already set up to tell us about his Bomarc kill in the Six! I have copied in the Itinerary below as some people couldn't download the files. 4. We recommend calling the Hope Hotel ASAP to reserve your rooms with your credit card now. Ask for the block of F106 rooms, we have 105 rooms set aside. We still would like to hear from more F106 Bases Troops! if you have any questions please email me: [email protected] Aim High, (see itinerary below) Bob Kwiecinski F106 2013 Reunion Committee Chairperson F106 2013 Reunion Itinerary Wednesday Sept. 11 Ø Meet and Greet at Hope Hotel, catered banquet for dinner at 6PM. Hello F106 Troops! Our 2013 F106 Committee met recently and we are happy to update you all with the latest updates in this email. You will find the latest itinerary file attached. We have been getting some very good early registrations, and if this is a sign, we may need to add more than the initial block of 105 rooms reserved at the Hope Hotel. That’s why it’s important for you to register early. At some point next year we will set a deadline for signing up, probably around the July time frame. That’s because with all the events we have set up, the respective businesses will want accurate reservations. The Wright Patterson (Fairborn/Dayton) area is extremely busy with many military reunions that time of the year and require early registration. Listed below is some information to expand on the itinerary. 1. We are asking $10 from EACH PERSON registering ($20/couple). Each registered veteran will receive a special commemorative F106 patch. The rest of the money will be used for postal mailings for those who don’t have email capability (refunds will be available if you can’t make it). Zig Stancavage is our committee treasurer and is keeping a good account of money received and spent. Any money left over will be used towards shuttle service for the shopping/tour events, raffle prizes, and miscellaneous supplies. Just so that you are aware, some members of the committee have invested some money on their own and expect no compensation, we are really enjoying doing this! For example four of us drove down to the WPAFB area to meet with Jerry Braun and visited the area to scout out and set up venues. We believe we have set up a very exciting and proper reunion! Contact Zig to register: 586-840-5571, Zig Stancavage 45999 Royal Drive Chesterfield MI 48051. 2. The prices shown in the itinerary are preliminary and are subject to change, hopefully, little or none. At some point next year we may need to collect up front for some of the activities depending on the requirements from the respective venue. 3. We are building up our F-106 directory and currently have over 600 names. We are getting good responses from the 329th, 456th, 27th, 94th, FIS and even NASA people! Please pass on the reunion information to any F106 person you know! Any AFSC… 4. We have added a “farewell brunch” on the Sunday morning, 10 AM. We are working on the arrangements with the Hope Hotel and Packy’s. For those staying in the Hope the free breakfast will be included. 5. We have tried to make every event optional, so that you will be able to choose how you like to share your reunion with old and new friends. We can envision many small “breakout sessions” within the Hope Hotel hospitality room. We are allowed to bring in our own snacks and beverages into this room, which seats 200. Check out their website at: www.hopehotel.com 6. If you have an email address and you received a regular “snail mail” letter from our reunion committee, we would appreciate if you could email your address to us. That would save us time and money. Email your address to: [email protected]So, please consider registering very soon, the contact information is in the attached itinerary. If you have any questions you may email me by replying to this email, or calling Bob Kwiecinski at: (734)429-0772. Aim High, Bob Kwiecinski F106 2013 Committee Chairperson

All F106 Troops (F106 2013 Reunion December 9, 2012, Update),
We promised to keep you all updated periodically and here is your December 9 update. We have been getting a very good early response from many people. Pat Perry has been helping us with some great adds from the 456th and also assisting with merging data base files from other F106 Bases. Thanks Pat!
We also have a good list of troops from the following: 329th, 27th, 87th, 62nd, 48th, 94th , 1st A&E, Selfridge, Wurtsmith, and a lot of individuals. Soon our data base will be approaching 1000!
I'd like to point out a few things that people have been asking in general and also emphasizing how much it will help our Reunion Committee if you can register early with Zig Stancavage. You can cancel up until August 15, that’s about when we will have to start committing good numbers to the places we have events scheduled. Deposits are refundable. So PLEASE register as soon as you can! Contact Zig to register: 586-840-5571, Zig Stancavage 45999 Royal Drive Chesterfield MI 48051
One of our committeemen, Dave Stiteler, has just completed phase one of sending out snail mailings, (almost 70 letters). We are starting to get feedback from those people, and a couple have given us their email addresses to save us paper mailings. So please keep forwarding us any email addresses of any F106 people. We will not be giving out any email or mail addresses complete files or information; only special requests from an individual for another buddy with good reasons. We will list the names of those who have already committed in order to encourage their buddies to attend, at the end of this email!
1. We are asking for door prize donations, we already have 3 wood F106 clocks and some patches donated. During the reunion we would like to have a patch and F106 memorabilia exchange… We have some prizes for the ladies (emphasize ladies are invited)
2. Hospitality Room at the Hope Hotel should be a lot of fun with daily 24/7 accessability, large and small breakout groups. We’ll have WIFI, computer projection hookups, we can bring in our own snacks and beverages, or have some things catered from the Hotel.
3. It is really important to register now, especially if you want to attend the WPAFB Restoration and Presidential tours. They are limited to 100 people (2 groups of 50). So the first 100 to register, plus a few on standby, will get to go. So call up Zig Stancavage to register (586-840-5571) for any events you plan to attend.
Aim High! Bobski
Pat's note: There will be a lot of USAF reunions going on in Sep 2013 so you might want to book your room early - see the attachment for info.

UPDATE 20 JAN 2013This is a copy of the email/snail mail that Bob Kwiecinski sent out Jan 20, 2013. I have not attached the documents here until we get changed over to V5 of the forum. Thanks, Pat P. Hello F106 Troops! We are happy to update you all with the latest updates in this January 20 email and snail mail. You will find the latest itinerary file attached. We are over 125 names registered! I have also attached the list of people registered to entice more of you all to attend. I checked with the Hope Hotel recently and over 60 of the 105 rooms are already booked. At the rate guys are signing up we expect to fill up our quota at the Hope Hotel, so I have also attached a file showing other places to stay in the Wright Patterson AFB area within a couple miles, plus other area info (thanks to Jerry Braun).
Remember most of the reunion activities will be taking place at the Hope Hotel. We will not be providing shuttle service from any other hotel to the Hope, you are on your own; good news is that the Holiday Inn (HI) does have a shuttle, if you stay at the HI. The WPAFB area is extremely busy with military reunions, for example, last year during September they hosted 41 reunions! Our Committee recommends you reserve a hotel as early as you can.
It is also very important for you register for the reunion and sign up for any of the planned events you may want to attend. There are two Air Force Museum events that we are at near the capacity of 100, and they are the Restoration and Presidential Aircraft Tours. We are at the point you need to decide YES or NO, not a maybe on these 2 tours, because we would hate to turn guys down who definitely want to go. We would rather put the “maybes” on a standby list. 1. We are asking $10 from EACH PERSON registering ($20/couple). Each registered veteran will receive a special commemorative F106 patch. Contact Zig Stancavage, our treasurer, to register: 586-840-5571, or write to: 45999 Royal Drive Chesterfield MI 48051. Zig is our committee treasurer and is keeping a good account of money received and spent. The money will be used towards shuttle service for the shopping/tour events, raffle prizes, and miscellaneous supplies. If any money is left over we will vote to decide what to do with the remaining (donate to a F106 museum? 2. The prices shown in the itinerary are preliminary and are subject to change, hopefully, little or none. At some point soon we need to collect up front for some of the activities depending on the requirements from the respective venue. 3. We are building up our F106 directory and currently have over 900 names. We are getting good responses from the 329th, 456th, 27th, 94th, 71st, FIS and even NASA people! We have also added a shopping tour for the ladies on the Saturday morning (9/14). 5. We have made every event optional, so that you will be able to choose how you like to share your reunion with old and new friends. We can envision many small and large “breakout sessions” within the Hope Hotel hospitality room. We are allowed to bring in our own snacks and beverages into this room, which seats 200, which is open 24/7. Check out their website at: www.hopehotel.com 6. If you have an email address and you received a regular “snail mail” letter from our reunion committee, we would appreciate if you could email your address to us. That would save us time and money. Email your address to: [email protected] So, please consider registering very soon, the contact information is in the attached itinerary. If you have any questions you may email me by replying to this email, or calling Bob Kwiecinski at: (734)429-0772. Aim High,

F-106 'Look-In' during visit to the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright-Patterson AFB
To clarify, no one will be granted cockpit access entry (sitting in cockpit) during the museum visit.
What you will be able to do is to lean over and 'look in' and take pictures of the cockpit from a side stand/platform.

To All F-106 Fixers, Flyers and Friends. I have edited two early posts in this thread to correct the dates of the All F-106 Reunion to be held at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. The correct dates are Sep 11-15, 2013.
Bob Kwiecinski, 2013 F106 Reunion Committee Chairperson, and the Reunion Team have kept us updated as things change on the itinerary. The Team has also consolidated all the squadron email lists that they have received and are sending emails to almost a thousand former Sixers with updates. The F-106 Forum is also posting Bob's emails here to make sure the word gets out to those F-106 folks who may not be on the master email listing. On the next post I will include a copy of the latest itinerary, the list of those who have registered to attend and a list of other hotels and RV/camp sites that are available in the Dayton area. And don't worry if you don't know anyone on the list. After conducting eight 456th FIS reunions I have discovered it takes about 15 minutes to make friends with a Sixer you never met before! We have a lot in common thanks to the ADC and the Delta Dart. This is going to be a big deal so please consider attending the first ever event that includes All F-106 folks! Thanks, Pat P. Edit by MOW: I converted the PDF file to images for display here.

Yep, opened just fine. I'm using FF right now, and when I first opened it I was IE9. That was when I replied that it worked fine there as well.
Edit -- Wait a minute. Are you expecting to see the entire file in the post, or just the link? All I see is the link -- which is what I expected -- and that opens fine.

A new message from Bob Kwiecinski - Pat P.
All 2013 F106 Reunion Attendees - Already signed up for tours:
We need your help regarding the Friday morning Restoration & Presidential Tours. The max allowed for these 2 tours for us is 100. We already have 103 people signed up for these 2 tours, so that means the last 3 signed up are on the standby waiting list (they know who they are).
There is another tour the same Friday afternoon (free), a public restoration tour is offered every Friday afternoon, under the "Behind the Scenes Tour." If you register for this one you must be here at the museum at 1145. This tour runs about 2 .5 hours.
Could you please consider, if you really do not care or are on the fence, could you please "REPLY" to me from this email that you don't mind either not attending the morning session and could attend the afternoon session tour.
Also, Please check out the F106 Forum regarding our reunion. We highly recommend that you also join the forum, it's free! If you're hungry for good ole F106 information, finding friends and ton's of Air Force stuff! Here's the link:

Here's the latest from Bob Kwiecinski on the All F-106 Reunion in Dayton, OH. He has also attached the attendees list (159 confirmed), the Itinerary and info on Greene County hotels and campgrounds. Bobski wrote: Hello F106 Troops, Here's our March 9th update on our 2013 F106 reunion. We are getting more calls almost daily with inquiries. That's good, BUT, we'd like to stress once again, that if you are planning to attend that you should make your hotel or other reservations ASAP. The Wright Patterson area is a very busy place during September. We have a reserved block of 105 rooms set aside for us. Last I heard almost 80 rooms are already booked! We would hate to see any of you disappointed and couldn't attend because every hotel in the area is full.... Also call Ziggy soon to register. We just ordered 100 of the special F106 patches today. Every attending veteran will receive a patch. I have invited Dave Gray, owner of the Yankee Pirate (where we are getting our patches from) to bring his military merchandise sales to our reunion. If you know of anyone else interested in selling military merchandise at the reunion let me know. We plan to have a display of F106 memorabilia during the reunion in the Hospitality Ball Room. Please bring any photos, relics, etc with you. Also if you can try to bring your photos in a digital file if possible, CD, DVD, USB stick, SD memory card, etc... We will have a laptop, scanner and printer available. We are asking for volunteers during the week of the reunion to help us out. One of the areas is to sit at the check in desk to the Hospitality Ball Room to sign people in, hand out patches, information packets, scan photos, etc.. This would be in 2 hour shifts. Ken Wigton and I will be going down to the reunion area for two days (April 17 &18) to firm up reunion menus, catering, etc.. We will meet up with Jerry Braun and anyone interested in helping us in the planning. Drop me an email if you wish to meet with us. Wow! Bobski is starting to get a lot of good stories via email from guys planning to attend the All F-106 Reunion at Dayton. Here's a couple more. Pat P. F106 Troops All: (hope you don't' mind me calling you all that!) The F106 stories are flooding in now! Here's a great story from Paul Grignot to share. Thanks Paul! I just love hearing these stories guys. Keep em coming! Bobski Gary Shepard wrote:Greetings, I am Lt. Col. Gary Shepard retired. I have around 3,000 hours in the F-106 and also am a Master of Air Defense in the aircraft. I flew Sixes at Minot '79-81. I also flew them at Paine Field, Washington for the 498th Gieger Tigers, and continued to fly them at the 84th FIS,Hamilton AFB. When the 84th moved to Castle, I went off to 26th Air Division as the Fighter Officer but continued to fly 106s at Castle. Regardless, I am interested in your B model. Could it's tail number possibly 590509? answer: www.f-106deltadart.com/display_590164_timmerman-airport.htmPaul Grignot wrote:Guy's, My name is Paul Grignot. Flew the 106 for 20+ years. Dover (Round eyes), Griffis and Tyndall. I had the privilege of re-delivering the last 4 Flying 106's back to the Boneyard at DM. They were called QF-106's Then and had been converted to Drone configuration. There is no difference in the look or Flight characteristics when not flown remote. When we landed them on two different delivery dates. three were CODE 1 and one the B was code 2 (Tacan DME) Patted her (242)under the nose and with tears in my eyes I left to catch a flight back to Tyndall. I was dual current at the time in the QF-4 and went home that way.. Those of you in Maintenance and Aircrews will appreciate the fact that on Test (FCF) flights she still could make Mach 2 like active duty times. Good old Tyndall over water range gave me plenty of room to slow her down and turn without spilling out... When i was delivering QF-4's to Holloman AFB (Drone detachment for Overland Testing), I would two hop the QF-4 thru Tinker (in Oklahoma City) to HMN and then would take a 106 back ONE HOP. Made it twice in 1.6 hours from HOLLOMAN TO TYNDALL AFB. Loved it. I had approx 3500 hours in the 106 when i landed the last one at DM. We used nose numbers similar to the Guard but sequential from Drone mod time. The delivery consisted of 3 F-106A's and One "B". One of the "A''s was the New Jersey bird with all of the names and the speed record on its body. In our numbering system it was 227. I also Delivered (the last one to land at DM) 242 (it was a Minot A/C). HAS my name on the Canopy Rail along with our Maintenance chief. When the drones were repainted red on the wing tips and tail the rudders were left original. That is the way we knew the ones that were not known tail numbers to US. Interesting to note is My Griffis A/C 59-0074 (took her to Two William Tells) had a nose number of 133 and I do have photo's of it on the POINT as a drone just before it's last flight. It took 3 Aim-7H's to kill her. Went down like a Viking. SHE was at 67000 feet doing Mach 1.7 when she was hit. Before that flight she was one of our manned A/C and I arranged (as the Operations Supervisor/ Scheduler ) to fly her many times. More interesting of note or whatever. the QF-100 I ejected out of at Tyndall just happened to be numbered 133 during her conversion... When the F-4's (QF-4's) came Found 133 & flew her on her acceptance flight just to finish the entire Type's of A/C. I missed out on conversion to the QF-16 as the company I was associated with BAE, did not win the QF-16 Contract... God's Plan.. I hope to make the reunion; just to talk about the OLD Bird. She was and is one of the most beautiful (on the ground and in the Air) Aircraft I had ever flown OR SEEN.. I finished with 6927 Fighter hours when I retired from The Drone world. Was hoping to pass 7000 in the QF-16 program. 17 years active duty and 21 years in the drone world. First 3 years I was a Navigator and Bombardier.. I do not have pictures digitally but do have some framed and others on paper.. Have several pictures of 787. The one Gary Foust Ejected out of in Minot and it landed itself when I was at Dayton Ohio for my Pilot training reunion a couple years ago. I am sure she is still there and better pictures can be taken then..... When 787 was at Griffis it was KH-01 Too much info probably but there it is... Blessings, Paul G Gary and Paul, come visit us here - Pat P.

This just in... An update from Jerry Santy and Paul Grignot. Jerry Santy wrote:Gary Faust flew 787 out of Malstrom and bailed out and it landed itself in a farmers field. I had to send troops out to remove all the MA-1 boxes. It was Malstrom not Minot. Jerry Santy Paul Grignot wrote: > Thought it was a farm in North Dakota so i assumed "Why Not Minot" . Good old 787 was a reliable A/C at Griffiss. When it came time for the 600 hour Mx work they did all the stuff; including the Control Rods. When i did the FCF it would not fly straight and could not pass (even close) the trim checks. So our great Mx chief got a waiver of some kind and the old control rods with bushings changed were put back in and she flew just fine. I guess when you plunk down in a field, snow or not, it tends to bend things a little. he he It was my second favorite A/C to my tail # 590074. Mike Kings was 59-0076 and they often were on alert ( not sure how we knew), he he. when the AVCAT teams showed up.. I did see most of the 106's Die the "VIKINGS" Death at Tyndall in the drone program but the ones i flew were the hardest to watch. Especially 0074 (Drone # AF-133); i scheduled myself to be the Controller, so i was there when the Data stopped. It was the second pass; they missed on the first; yes she still had those long Legs and made TWO Supersonic passes above 65000 feet and better than 1.6 Mach... Since i was at Dover on my first 106 assignment before Vietnam i flew many round-eyes. there and at IWS at Tyndall (Mx at Tyndall tried to schedule them for us so not to cause currency problems with the gauges). when they came to drones; I talked to the AF guy's over our contract and we did not have any special "Round Eye " Requirements. We did not however, keep them as manned flyers. My first A/C was a " Round Eye" from Dover AFB, with my name on it, it was 504; i have a painting by Jensen of her with Crew chief and Pilot names on her.... Not sure if she was a 56 or what year; i will have to look at the painting. I watched her take the "Vikings" death as well... Better than rusting away in the Boneyard. One or two of the ones we took to the boneyard, after the drone program, were either purchase for a private person or onto some static display. Before that i know one was taken, flown, to Dover for Static... There were some wing crack problems at the end and several were put on one way flights on Drone missions and Live missiles were tested at the end. HOWEVER, one or two actually got a second flight due to missile or weather or something in flight..... he he. 0074 actually had 3 or 4 missions before she was killed and was on a, not to much of a chance of surviving, type mission at MX's request because the electrical Potting was starting to be a severe problem. Mx types will know what that is... Well again two much info but i am sure some of the 106 folks will eat it up.. Blessings to all. Please pass this on as you see fit. Paul G. Thanks for the update guys! Pat P. Semper F-106

Suggestion Pat P----- why not have bobski or yourself gather up these soon to be lost stories and print them up or put them on a disc and sell them at the re-union....... The Old Sarge Not a bad idea! A few weeks ago Bobski mentioned that there would be a PC set up at the hospitable suite during the reunion and MOW offered to set up a thread for attendees to post some stories and BOLO's for long lost squadron mates. Bobski has sent out the Forum URL and we are starting to pick up some MA-1 guys and pilots who have never been here or have not been around for years. It's nice to have some new visitors with stories and pictures! Pat P. PS: You guys just coming in can go here www.f-106deltadart.com/lineages.htm and find pictures of your old favorite F-106s. This just in from Jerry Santy:After reading your e-mail I looked up the old Great Falls Tribune article about the “ self landing”.....Yes, I still have it. Was one of my birds and my crew went out to “ save” the MA-1 boxes before any bad guys could get them out. When visiting the AF Museum at Wright Pat I was really surprised to see her siting there. It was one of my most reliable birds during ORI’s and Tech Eval”s. I really miss my F106 days: spent 14 years with them. And I have noticed that there is VERY LITTLE mention of them in any stories about old A/C from any branch of service. I wonder why? Jerry Santy And Paul Grignot replied:Mostly i think because of the F-102; many, wrongly, thought the 106 was a 102B like A/C. those of us who flew both can tell you they are not even close in performance. until the F-16 came along, i would put the 106 up against even the F-15 when flown properly for its strengths. Great Engine; tremendous endurance. A 106 clean could outlast the F-15 clean. As most know the F-15's Dog fighting configuration was with a Centerline. If we put on Wing tanks and started flighting when they went dry we could equal that configuration of the F-15. However, The F-16 was another story. Great legs and much better turning performance. JUST a side note but believe it or not; in the Drone configuration we could carry chaff and Flares and Aim- 9's with boresight shot capability. sad that at its end the 106 would have been a powerful Air to Air machine with a great missile capability. those of you who remember our AIM-4F & G' missile might be interested to know that the F as restricted from being fired at the end when the Missile Range Gate blind zones computer change locked the fins at their last position instead of the STUPID streamlining of the Fins for most of the life of the 106. Reason the HIt rate was now extremely high. wanted to save the targets for the newer A/C/ Could talk on and on about our great bird and its true capabilities but will wait for later.. Blessings, To all. Paul G.

Another email from Bobski. This contains eight pictures over the next 3 posts that were provided by Steve Sirois. Steve visited Robins AFB Air Museum in Georgia where Delta Dart 59-0123 now resides. Pat P. Steve wrote: Bob - Last October I stopped in at Robins AFB AF Museum. While walking around behind the main building, I found the best F-106 restore I have ever seen. Just like every pilot I have ever known, I was talking with my hands while my wife took photos. Incredible memories. Post # 3 Another email from Bobski. This contains eight pictures over the next 3 posts that were provided by Steve Sirois. Steve visited Robins AFB Air Museum in Georgia where Delta Dart 59-0123 now resides. Pat P. Hi Bob - More Nostalgia. As you may know, the AIR-2A/ATR was mounted on a couple of Interceptors besides Dart, and the F-101 was among them. When the rocket was ejected from the armament bay, the motor was activated by a lanyard that was attached in the bay and on the weapon. When it reached the end of the lanyard, a plug was pulled that was the rocket trigger. I think the 101 could actually carry 2 of them on a rotary launcher under the nose. Consequently, since the weapon was not launched from within the bay like the Dart, the 101 lanyard was shorter than the Dart lanyard. There was nearly a catastrophe when it was discovered that some 106 units had been supplied with the shorter lanyard. That set up the potential for a rocket motor to fire before it was fully free from the 106 weapon bay. Fortunately this error was discovered before a tragedy occurred. Below the Genie photo is a photo of the Nuke blast from the only time the real weapon was ever fired with the real warhead, from an F-89. Best Regards - Steve Sirois Attachment Deleted
