Welll! You ALL really take a chunck out of my heart! A big THANKS for the birthday greetings and thanks for all of your support! I've had a pretty drastic year, last year, and I'm thinking that this new year is going to be really wonderful! Just to make up for the past! I had a really wonderful, relaxing birthday day. I took a tour of the Natural Bridge caverns, in New Braunfels and had a very good steak dinner with a very close friend. No cake with candles (I skipped that! No fire extinguisher handy!) but I did hoist a beer for all of you! Thanks again! MArv

Thanks for the well wishes like I told Pastor Jim in a reply PM-- Yesterday was discouraging to me because when I got up the sink was full of dishes and the laundry was piled high. You see we are holding out to pay cash for a new DW because last month we had to buy a new fridge. It doesn't take a repairmen to determine a DW is tango uniform by detecting a distinct burnt electric odor and puddle on the floor. My reserve DWs, you know the 2 legged kind, went back to school yesterday. So the sinks are full and the laundry is piled high... But Pastor Jim's blessing reminds me that I am blessed beyond the curse--my family and I have plenty of food to eat (hence the dirty dishes), my children are healthy, and our wardrobe is plentiful enough.

F106Lady, After I retired from the USAF I took a job as the service manager in a Home Appliance Store. I also doubled as a technician we needed. As for dishwashers, a burnt smell and puddle does not mean your DW unit is a total loss. First thing to consider is the age of the unit and the manufacture. I have no rule of thumb on how I suggested to customers about repairing or replacing the unit. I'd look at its age, manufacturer, the model (basic or upper-end), and what condition it was in (rusted racks, external dents, scratches, etc). What you describe by a puddle and burnt smell sounds like the seal between the water pump and electric motor went bad. I've been out of the business for about 2 1/2 years now and things do change. If your DW is over 10 years old and has had lots of use -replace it. The cost of a motor and pump is going to be likely $150.00 not including labor. When I was the service manager and if customers were mechanically inclined I'd have them remove the DW and bring it to the store. I'd overhaul the pump and replace the motor and do the labor between phone calls and customer counter help. I was able to cut seniors, veterans, and low income folks a nice deal to help them. What ever you do, you should consider putting in a DW drip-pan. This is a 3 sided plastic pan the if you get a leat it forces the leak out onto the kitchen floor preventing the water from getting under the floor and into the walls and cabinet bottoms. If seen DW leaks cause major kitchen overhauls. Want any more advice just reply or PM me.

AYE AN TIS A FOINE DAY IT BE WHEN WE GET TO WISHIN SUCH A FOINE LAD AS OUR PADDY The Old Sarge Thanks for the Birthday wishes lads. I always felt if you sneaked past birthdays without remembering them they didn't count.... guess that's why at 63, I feel 37. I'm just thankful that the Good Lord keeps think'in that if he keeps me around long enough, I might just find a useful purpose to serve. Birthdays do make me think how lucky I am to know so many fine folks... like the guys on this forum. Jim Gier - It's hard to believe there's room in your heart for another stent because it already so full of concern for the well-being of others. Jim Scanlon - You keep us centered with posts that make us think about things we need to be thinking about. Jeff Shannon - You make us cry... from laughing so hard at the jokes you come up with. lindel & genej50 - You keep visitors inspired to post more by replying when others might want to, but don't. Then there's always folks who send me jokes via email, like Sam Brandt. He shot the CAM F-106 photos for the posters they sell to this day. Sam Says: I had lunch with 2 of my unmarried friends the other day. One is engaged, the other is a mistress, and my friend has been married for 20+ years. We were chatting about our relationships and decided to amaze our partners by wearing a black leather bra, black stockings, stiletto heels and a mask over our eyes. Then we agreed to meet in a few days to exchange notes. Here's how it all went. The engaged friend: The other night when my boyfriend came over he found me with a black leather bodice, tall stilettos and a mask. He saw me and said, 'You are the woman of my dreams. I love you." And we made love all night long. The mistress: Me too ! The other night I met my lover at his office and I was wearing the leather bodice, stockings and heels under a raincoat and the mask over my eyes. When I opened the raincoat he didn't say a word, but we had wild sex all night. Then I shared my story: When my husband came home I was wearing the leather bodice, black stockings, stilettos and a mask over my eyes. As soon as he came in the door and saw me he said, "What's for dinner, Batman?" Then this one that has Father Flanigan rolling in his grave: Due to the financial crisis, Catholic Churches in Las Vegas have started taking poker chips in the collection plate. After the services, young men must take these chips to the various casinos on the strip and exchange them for money. these young men are called... ... CHIP MONKS :yellow-beer Pat P. :us_flag

MArv We had the option of also wishing a happy birthday to ma1marv but then that would have made you 122 years old; almost as old as dirt, but very, very wise indeed.
