George (far left) is a local man who was a good friend of Col Rogers. George was also a former civilian electrician attached to the 84th at Hamilton and Castle. He stops by the Air Museum frequently and usually looks me up. The picture was taken shortly after PCAM received 0086 and got her put together and on her legs.

AWESOME photos!!! MOW, these are must saves!! Thanks for posting! Eric has posted some pics in the past. His dad was quite a man. He flew F-86's,F-102's,O-2's (FAC), F-106's. I believe that besides the 317th (deuces & possible F-86's) he flew with the 11th,87th,48th & 456th as a Six Driver. I yak with Eric on FB quite often. He has quite the collection of pics.I think he may have posted some of the 456th pics. His Dad has passed long time ago. He was a highly decorated Col. George Magner (first photo) said he had lots more pics to email me. He is also putting me in touch with Joe Silva (former Convair tech rep & his personal friend), to see if I can get some info for my plane from him. Jim M

All F106 Troops, Bruce Gordon passed along this really nostalgic YouTube video about Major Joe Rogers setting the world speed record in the Six. Thanks Bruce! Bobski
From: brugor@me.com To: Bobski9933@aol.com Sent: 5/6/2014 11:31:32 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time Subj: F-106 video Bob -- I ran across this video of Major Joe Rogers setting the world speed record with the F-106. As a Lt Colonel, Joe Rogers was my Squadron Commander in F-102s in Alaska. He was a great pilot and a great Commander. He later became a test pilot of the YF-12A, the interceptor version of the SR-71 Blackbird.
You might send this on to our F-106 crowd...

This is the same video we have on page www.f-106deltadart.com/speedrecord.htm Pat P.

Received this from Bobski & Joe Sylvia:
All F106 Troops, Thought you'd enjoy seeing this about Colonel Joseph W. Rogers, being honored.
Established in 1990 by the Lancaster City Council, the Aerospace Walk of Honor celebrates test pilots who were associated with Edwards AFB. Recognition is awarded for distinguished aviation careers marked by significant and obvious achievements beyond one specific accomplishment. USAF Colonel Joseph W. Rogers, USAF set a new official world absolute speed record at Edwards AFB in 1959 when he piloted a Convair F-106A Delta Dart to a speed of 1,525 mph. After 45 years, this was still the record for single engine airplanes.
Flying over Korea and Viet Nam, Rogers flew 300 combat missions in P-51 Mustangs, P-80 Shooting Stars and F-4 Phantoms. He attended the USAF Experimental Test Pilot School in 1956 and the Air War College in 1964.
He flew early development test flights of the F-86D Sabre and performed early testing on the F-102/F-106 weapons systems before joining the SR-71/YF-12 Test Force, where he flew the first Blackbird mission of the USAF/NASA YF-12/SR-71 USAF research program. He eventually became Test Director of the world’s highest and fastest airplane, the SR-71 at Edwards Air Force Base. In 1971, Rogers was already evaluating advanced fighter design concepts that wouldn’t appear until the 1990s.
Colonel Rogers was awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Legion of Merit and the Air Medal with 16 Oak Leaf Clusters. A Fellow in the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, Rogers received the Thompson Trophy and the Federation Aeronautique Internationale De La Vaulx medal. During his career as a test pilot, Rogers logged 13,000 hours in more than 50 aircraft, including the F-86D, F-102, F-104, F-106, YF-12, SR-71 and F-4.
