::)This past month, while on a driving honeymoon with Sandy, I had the privilege and honor to visit 2 museums and put my hands on2 beautiful SIXES.......But BETTER THAN THAT ,I got to meet four outstanding Sixers in person while on this trip....First was THUD- Ron Kollas in Fredricktown, Ohio, then on up to KI Sawyer where we spent the night with Lee Nellist...I attended an Air Force Association meeting and met Lani Duquette.....The following day they took us thru the museum and of course to the birds.......I was priveleged to receive a piece of metal from the missle bay of their SIX, along with a certificate of appreciation...... We then drove thru Wisc, Minn, S Dakota to see Mt rushmore and Crazy Horse Monuments.....Then down I25 to Colorado Springs and a meetin of ChiefO'The Facts Erv Smalley with a visit to the museum at Peterson Field.........Having met Pat Perry in June, I have now met 5 outstanding individuals that I never dreamed I would ever get to meet.............This afternoon, I received a phone call from an old 27th member that came out of the 4713th ECMSqdn and went to Loring with us....................Maybe some of you guys remember Pat Kyle a SSgt CC on 044....... We put on almost 5,000 miles and had a ball, wish I had a pair of navigator wings for Sandy ::)Next trip is planned for April when we go to Castle and to Sacramento, where there several more outstanding SIXERS that I want to meet. It is amazing what came from the old forum years ago and what Pat Perry and I did with one clock donation........................Thanks Guys, and by the way Sandy is almost as avid SIXER as I am.........The Old Sarge and Sandy...................MArv has promised me that he is taking Bridgette to the Grand Canyon- we have a 75 ft long driveway for his 5th wheel..........................................I will have plenty of green bottles with real beer in them for him..............................

This just in from Dave Adams 456th FIS.... News from the Lone Star Flight Museum's website... LSFM took a direct hit from Ike.... www.lsfm.org/ September 14, 2008 10:00 a.m. Prior to IKEʼs arrival pilots were able to fly the following aircraft out of harmʼs way/ B-17, B-25, DC-3,P-47, F6F, F4U, SBD, PT-17, T-6 and the F8F. September 16, 2008 6:30 p.m. - Galveston, Texas A first site survey found damage from Ike as substantial. The hangars and Texas Aviation Hall of Fame had 7-8 feet of water in those areas. The gift shop and lobby area had 3-4 feet of water. The southwest side of both hangars appear compromised. The entire contents of the gift ship are lost. Every exhibit in the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame was destroyed although some artifacts may be able to be saved.. How many is yet to be determined. The airplanes received major water damage. Most remain in good shape physically. All plumbing and electrical systems are inoperable. The roof is okay minus one skylight. The second floor appears to be untouched. All evacuated aircraft are ok. Debris is everywhere as you will be able to see in these preliminary photos. Click below to see the first photos in from the damage caused by Hurricane Ike. www.lsfm.org/ikephotogallery.html Thanks, Pat

I was there today with my grandson. We must have just missed eachother. Herb was gone also. Ed was there. I was there about 11:00AM. After that went out to the Restoration hanger then to the ISO Dock to get my grandson inside a C-17. We had a great day. Grandson in F-106 simulator. Looks like a crewchief to me. I was a jet troop.

where did you get that photo??? Honestly, I don't remember. Must have been one of those Google days I guess. The way I figure, the only way someone would have got that photo was from another F-106 (or another USAF aircraft) so it has to be an official USAF photo and therefore, in the public domain. Guys, I have just finished four clocks to be used as door prizes and raffle fund raisers for the 456th FIS reunion next year in Denver......I now have a problem, I have finally used up all of the 6061 T3 .125" aircraft aluminum that I "liberated" when I retired from Willie Airplane Patch 32 years ago.....Some of that aluminum has been used in wall clocks for the 456th , McClellan, KI Sawyer, New Yankee AF, even for a Sac Air Refueling sqdn fund raiser as well as a silent auction item for the Tuskeegee Airman Red Tail Project. Some of you have been receipients of clocks that included a hand machined silhouet of the SIX.......I have a few more people that are deserving of a special award for their efforts concerning the SIX......So, if you have access to a/c aluminum either 2024 or 6061 with a maximum hardness of T4 and .125 " (1/8th inch), (SO is too soft and plugs the files).Be glad to pay the shipping....... The Old Sarge
BTW, any other sqdn desiring a presentation clock for a fund raiser or special award, please contact me...........There is no charge for this- other than possibly splitting the shipping costs with me.............
