Bill Childers has taken some great photos of 59-0043 on March 17, 2007 at the D-M Air Show. She appears to be in great shape. Thanks Old Sarge for sending these and Thanks Bill for recording some history on this proud bird! Click on picture to see all of them Pat Perry 456th FIS

:-*Thanks Pat for posting my Photos. It was good to see her in such good shape! From the looks of her on the walk around she could fly again with a little work. We need to do whatever we can to get her in the air. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help make it happen.

Wonder if my fingerprints are still on 043 ??? Spent many COLD nights working on 043 while at BEAUTIFUL Loring AFB from July 1968 til June 1972. Still can't understand Uncle didn't spend a few bucks to keep a couple of sixes flying for show. There is nothing like watching the six in flight !!!

Hey Norm! If your fingerprints are still there, they must covering up mine! I know I left quite a few inside of the fwd RADAR and Computer compartments! Along with several other holes! Yep, I sure can't understand why the Air Force doesn't want to keep at least ONE of those air frames flying! Wouldn't it be neat to see that bird go back up and set a new speed record --- After ALL these years! It would really be sweet! One could only hope! MArv

MArv MArv you right it would set a new speed record ....the only thing is the powers that be in the Air Force wouldn't want to be embarrassed with all the money they have spent on the new jet and have a "6" doing what comes naturally. I know I'm not the only one here who would LOVE to see a "6" FLY!!!!! The sounds and the smells of the flight line...now thats what I miss the most since retirement.

There must be A LOT of finger prints on that old girl. Mine are all over the computer compartment. I think between Marv, NW and myself we must have her covered for 10 - 12 years (me - '64 - '67).

Well as far as fingerprint and handprints go I'll probably be able to cover the wheel wells, engine bay, speedbrakes, RAT door, and every other area a crew chief would be touching. Wouldn't that be a sight to see just one more FCF?

We wouldn't have a problem putting a crew together, but how do we achieve the objective of getting the government to release an acft without de-milling it? I would love to see the 6 in the air again, this time prepped for speed - smooth skinned and max waxed, including down the intakes. Then we could marry the J-75-P 17 with the P-19W, which would allow for the use of water at the beginning of the run. If this is possible, I'll kick for a grand! The hell with the speed run, just to see one in the air again would be worth it!!!!!!!! May even throw in my left-one, its just hanging around doing nothing anyway.....

8-)OK guys, What is it going to take to get this old girl into the air again. With all the memories this has brought back we need to start the ball rolling. I would love to see a F-106 in a heritage flight with a P-51, F-4 and some thing else. I will send a photo of the heritage flight from the DM Air show. Bill's Heritage photos have been added to the end of this album Click on picture to see album Thanks Bill! Pat Perry 456th FIS

It may be a waste of time but how about contacting your Congressmen. I guest it should be Congress person to be politically correct. I contacted the Collings Foundation about a F-106 and they mention all the hoops they had to go through to get an aircraft like that from Uncle. Hell I would sure love to see one fly, never have.

:(As far as I can tell it is untouched. All of the Drone equipment is still installed and is in an active storage program. The last check was Dec 2006. It looks like it landed and went to storage. I have some friends at AMARC and will check on her status.

I don't think a J-75-P19W will fit into a Six. The afterburner is longer than the -P-17's burner by about a foot or so. Besides, there's no room for a water tank in a Six.

Don't tell anyone though as they think I'm an F-106 guy!! In case you haven't heard I'm an old KC-135 crew chief and now a C-130 Flight Engineer. My F-106 association is a long story! Seriously, you will love it here and I think I can speak for all the regulars when I say, WELCOME!!! Mark BTW, I'm not originally from TN but my folks are and I claim it as home now. Sevier County at first but Jefferson County now.

Hi Mark, I don't think I've heard that story yet about your F-106 association. Have you already printed a post about it? If so, please post the URL for it. Pat P. BTW Virgil, That site militarysignatures.com/ is pretty neat. I did not register yet. Do they charge a fee for that service? I wonder if they let you provide your own picture file for a background? I also like your animated .gif of the Polar bear on your avatar. Mark & Virgil, I have a home site at The Villages of Norris lake near LaFollette, TN in Chambers county. www.villagesatnorrislake.com/default.html . Hope to build there in a few years if this real estate market ever finds a bottom.

Hope to build there in a few years if this real estate market ever finds a bottom. Hey, that place looks pretty nice! Not to far from home either! Penny and I have talked a little about where we're going to go when I retire but I suppose it still depends on when I retire! It also depends on the job market but Tennessee is on the short list as that's what we both claim right now. Mom and Dad are there too so... We'll see. Mark Oh, I went to the military signatures site and you can register for free but you only get the medium or small logos. Near as I can figure out you have to pay for the large ones like Virgil has. This is the one I just set up but it only lets me put 18 ribbons on. I have 22.
